GILBERT, S.C. Mitt Romney and a top surrogate called for Newt Gingrich, Romney's chief rival for the Republican presidential nomination, to release the House Ethics Committee report that led to a reprimand of Gingrich and a $300,000 fine.
After Romney was pressed on his tax returns, Gov. Nikki Haley (R-S.C.) stepped in and interrupted Romney.
"The people of South Carolina are not talking about tax returns. They're not. They're talking about jobs, spending and the economy," she said before taking a shot at Gingrich, who is neck and neck with Romney in recent polls of South Carolina.
"In all honesty, I've heard more people wondering why you guys aren't asking about Ethics reports and ethics problems with the Gingrich campaign."
Romney then agreed with Haley that Gingrich should release the Ethics investigation immediately.
"Of course he should," Romney told reporters. "One of the issues that was raised last night by Rick Santorum was the fact that he was pushed out of the House by his fellow members. I think over 80 percent of Republican congressmen voted to reprimand the Speaker of the House, the first time in history. And Nancy Pelosi has the full record of that Ethics investigation. You know it's going to get out before the general election. Sure, he ought to get it out now."

..another thought naps, is that they promised her the VP—boy did she hook up her wagon to the wrong horse LOL
Newt should tell Romney that he will release them in April.
Add ‘The Hill’ to the list of rags perpetuating the myth that Gingrich was fined $300,000. He agreed to pay for a portion of the investigation (which later found him innocent). That is not a fine, and I have never seen the phrase “acquitted” or “found innocent” in any article mentioning the ethics investigation.
Didn’t Nikki just receive a large contribution from Mitt? Was it just a down payment?
While Romney Goes Negative Attacking Fellow Republicans, Newt Gingrich Talks About Solutions For America... http://ow.ly/8AZVs
It's a Souvrn' state ~ so new fangled contrivances like they have in Wisconsin just don't cut it.
BTW, back when you guys were pushing the sex scandal I did some evaluation of the photographic evidence available on the net regarding where you could or could not park in the vicinity of that restaurant (central to the story) and discovered you couldn't really do what you were saying took place.
Just absolutely amazing.
From my point of view, though, I suspect that both attacks then, and the misrepresentation going on now, started with either the Paulbots or the Mittbots. Both groups didn't want Haley to win ~ Mitt gave her a recommendation which he thought wouldn't help, but he could come back later and tell the TEA Party crowd that "I hep't you'all".
Eventually she has to be informed about Newt's innocense on the ethics charges ~ it's a tad complex but as an earlier poster just demonstrated, it's already on the net.
Kinda what I though. LOLOLOLOL...
What a dolt.
He should start cleaning out his campaign crowd. Obvious his fact checkers blew it. That’s a sign he has some Democrats in the mix ~ the last thing any of those guys ever notice is that a Republican was exonerated.

YOU ARE JOKING RIGHT?
So Haley has to save his butt, because he is not fast enough on his feet to do it himself.

Ventura/Pualn 2016? :)
I just sent Haley an email expressing my disgust with her behavior. I also informed her that she would get no financial support from me, nor my vote.
The Democrats complain that the cost overruns occurred because Republican owned construction companies got all the work and did a bad job.
However, I recall that BEFORE the Democrats voted funding for the BIG DIG that Republicans were predicting ruinous cost overruns.
Turned out there were ruinous cost overruns.
It was a stupid idea.
You do recall correctly...Newt is doing his homework. His time in the House has taught him some skills he is using today, like learn the local issues when in someone else's backyard.
Quick...someone tweet this to Nikki! She seems out of the loop.

Are you for real?!
Ventura/Paul 2016? :)
I am for real but I have a odd sense of humor. I hope that answered your question.
This article specifically states that the fine is "for the costs of an ethics committee investigation." It also appears that Gingrich agreed to the reprimand voluntarily and without an admission or finding of guilt.
