An Army officer speaking on behalf of special forces confirmed on Thursday that a team of "highly trained personnel that excel in uncertain environments" are operating near Iran. Spencer Ackerman just published the scoop on Wired's Danger Room blog:
The primary, day-to-day mission of the team, known as Joint Special Operations Task Force-Gulf Coordinating Council, is to mentor military units belonging to the U.S.' oil-rich Arab allies, who collectively are known as the Gulf Coordinating Council. Those Arab states consider Iran to be their primary foreign threat.
The task force provides "highly trained personnel that excel in uncertain environments," Maj. Rob Bockholt, a spokesman for special-operations forces in the Mideast, tells Danger Room, and "seeks to confront irregular threats."

I was in the U.S. Army during late Viet Nam.
Went to Fort Gordon for communications.
At that time there were a couple thousand troops from the mid east going to the same schools. I looked in to it at the time and found out there are literally tens of thousands of foreign troops here ALL the time learning how to better fight using our tactics, equipment and structures.
Hell, just yesterday I was at the Saint Lucie County airport with my wife having breakfast at the Tiki and there were two mid east guys there going to pilot schooling there.\
Happens all the time still.
Ultimately, The Won is not particularly concerned about his re-election.

Shoot, if I were 40 years younger, I’d lead these special ops guys right up Takht-i-Jamshid in Teheran. We could retake the old embassy compound, then I could lead them to a couple of swell restaurants in the area.

I agree, whole heartedly, with your experience of Christian Arabs. Your vision is clear on the islamic scourge affecting the Arab world. I would, however, caution against indicting all Muslims.
I have operated in the middle east and Afghanistan and have worked with Sunni and Shia Muslims. I have broke bread with them in villages. They were good folks, who had dreams to prosper and raise their families, as we do. They were not Jihadis, but respectful and prayerful people.

Summing it up; Americans with loose lips (a/k/a m.f.’s] should be charged with treason.
“Special Forces” are not “commandos.” That is if they mean U.S. Army Special Forces (AKA Green Berets). It the Army Rangers or “Delta” that are more akin to “commandos.”
