Is it possible that maybe he found Christ through the Catholic church and his old church wasn’t working for him? Perhaps his past transgreesions are in the past and he is not the same man as Newt the audulterer? You can see the light and find God other than through an evangelical conversion. In fact, as a Catholic by blood myself, I have found those who entered the Church through conversion generally are much more religious than those like myself who were brought up in it. The process of becoming a Catholic is not easy either.

Afterall, he hasn’t had a personal scandal in what, 18 years?

"Still, Perry is Trxas. It is one of the most unique states I have ever been in and I love it. I think Perry loves it far more than I do and DC would just drain him. I would hate to see that happen."

Yet he was willing to put himself out there for all of us. Thank you Governor Perry.

Maybe I haven't paid close enough attention, but when and to whom did Newt ask for forgiveness?

I am more than willing to forgive one who is repentant, but I haven't seen that from Newt.......and I've seen a lot of him.

If you have a link or quote to indicate that what he did was sin, I'd like to see it.

I'm serious. The moral infidelity is a BIG problem for me when I look at a presidential candidate. It goes to character, commitment and honor, and I can't let it slide.

What morality would there be in allowing mitt romney to steal the nomination, or obama getting reelected? We would lose our country once and for all. Sometims G-d gives you choices and always the chance for redemption. If Newt can save this country, it would be absolutely IMMORAL to judge what only G-d can judge while kissing our country goodbye out of a misplaced sense of moral superiority.
Paul was a sinner. He was forgiven. Newt has done far, far less.

FNC now doing their best to limit the impact this will have in helping Newt! Spin says it’s meaningless because his poll numbers are low anyway.

Perry may not have too many followers left, but he took some shots at ABC and at Romney, and made a huge moral commitment to Gingrich, and that was a big deal. Perry didn't have to do that - he could have given his resignation speech and said nothing endorsing anybody.

Funny that CNN of all places is saying that Perry talking about forgiveness was huge for Newt while Fox News is downplaying Perry's endorsement.

It is today....history is history. Perry bowed out with honor and grace and deserves the praise he’s being given for doing so in such a manner.

You are wrong to imagine he wasn’t ever in the game...his supporters proved otherwise. We all fight for our candidate and they did likewise.

No need to be bitter...Perry can be admired for this decision...he did it right and honorable.

what will happen to Perry’s vote from SC absentee’s that already voted or does SC have absentee vote in primary? If it Romney wins within difference of Perry’s vote can they give electorial to Newt?

Any votes for Perry will still count for Perry. If he gets enough to earn delegates (unlikely, given SC's system), he can request that the pledge to vote for Gingrich, or he can release them to vote as they will. Same as any delegates he may have picked up in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Out of the three that you listed, I like Ted Cruz the most.

Polls that I’ve seen have Cruz in 2nd place a ways down but gaining. I expect that will change as they proceed to the Apr primary. Dewhurst has better state recognition due to his tenure as Lt. Gov., imo.

I like Perry’s flat tax proposal and his whole reform platform. I hope Newt adopts it. Perry has a lot of good ideas sorely needed to help the country.

That is not at all the point.

When I am voting in a PRIMARY, moral character is a huge consideration for me.

I'll ask you the same question, because I have a limited amount of time to spend on politics.....

Do you have a link to a source where Newt has been repentant and acknowledged that his moral failings are behind him? Where he has asked God for forgiveness through Jesus Christ?

It may be a small matter to others on FR, but it's not to me.

I'm not looking for perfection, but I am looking for, ideally, humility before a Sovereign Lord.

I understand your conundrum. I wish there were better options.

It does give me pause, though, to think that God gave Israel exactly what she needed (the humbling of exile) through the utterly godless Assyrians. And he called David - an adulterer and murderer - a “man after His own heart”. The time had “fully come” for the Christ to be born under the peace brought about by Caesar Augustus, who believed himself to be a god. And though Samson ended as a blind slave because he gave away his secrets for fornication, God restored his strength and brought down the pillars of the Dagon-worshiping king through Samson’s self-sacrifice. Jesus said that if His believers would not have cried out on His entry into Jerusalem, the very stones would have. And Balaam received the word of God through the speaking of an ass. The two women mentioned in the earthly genealogy of Christ had both acted as prostitutes.

It is the glory of God to use clay pots, to show that the transcendent power comes from Him alone.

All things considered, I think God can use even Newt to bring the rule of law back to this country. And that is God’s purpose for worldly government.

some of the most egregious offenders will now gush over Perry and thank him for his endorsement.

Of course..it's A Primary election...round by round...and Perry has determined his last round and ended it admirably. No denying that. Now he'll go back to being the Governor he loves to be. He's lost nothing and Texans gained the man they admire. Good ending...

This is big. I mean b i g as in B i g !

Expected but… well… B I G

…and should add the endorsements of The Nuge, Sheriff Joe, Jindal, Forbes, Inhofe, Brownback and maybe get DeMint off the fence.

BIG!!!

How much good news can Mitt and the established GOP handle in one day?
First they lost Iowa now this!!!

What a perfect time for LTC (Ret) Rep. Allen West (FL-22) to announce he is open to a Veep slot!

I'm lovin' me some Cabinet Level Rick Perry and Texas!

Damn, I love it when a plan comes together…

Did I mention it was BIG!???

So none of your friends are divorced? And you constantly remind them how immoral they are? And of course, you never have them over for dinner.

Numerous members of my family have had affairs. Some divorced. Some didn't. The divorced ones remarried...happily.

I agree with you on the name recognition point. One of the local readio stations had an interview with Cruz this morning and I listened to some of the interview as i drove to work. I was quite impressed with what I heard.

DRUDGE could not be more obvious with his Romney bias! Apparently, he finds ABC’s old news sleazy interview with Newt’s bitter ex-wife much more newsworthy than Perry’s endorsement of Newt! Have you taken a look at his page lately?! Geesh!
