With members of the mainstream media now hurling charges of using racially coded language against GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, Big Government has uncovered a private memorandum written over three decades ago that offers a unique glimpse into Mr. Gingrichs longstanding attitudes about race...

Juan is taking offense because Newt calls Obama the food stamp president and wants to talk to the NAACP to help those who are not getting help from Obama. It is disheartening that Juan hears and sees racism so easily in people he should not.

I agree.
Yes it is disheartening. It reduces the charge of racism to mean almost nothing at all.
Leftists do justify every tactic they use by asking “do the ends justify the means”.
Now, for a while, I thought, there has to be some “means” that they would say wouldn’t be justified... BUT
then I read “You can still trust the communists to be communists” and figured out why ANY means is justified.
They define the “ends” as pretty much heaven on earth - absolute perfection.
So, sure, it’s OK to kill half the population, as long as the remaining population lives in a perfect world.
Don’t laugh. I had a well educated friend that thought it would be wonderful if about 75% of the earth’s populace would simply cease to exist. He was THAT wigged out on environmentalism.
Which goes to show you that environmentalism is joined at the hip with communism...
but all of us here knew that.
Yes, I do agree with that.
NOPE, it ain’t. I’ve had personal experiences with it. If they can be deceived by Joseph Smith, how could anybody trust them with much smaller matters.
Let’s just agree to disagree you “insipid, trite, melodramatic” fool.

Yes, I do agree with that.
BTW: That’s why I don’t laugh it off when a guy expresses a belief in man-made global warming, wants to fix that, and includes a chapter in his upcoming book about it.
It’s a serious matter.
I would have loved to ask your acquaintance how he proposed we reduce the population by 75% and if his end utopia would be worth doing so through starvation or violence.
I think his game plan was centered around natural disasters.
I once chided him by saying, “You know, some folks would suggest you go first if this is your true belief.” He just smiled unfazed by the prospect.
The guy had a doctorate in his field.
People are a lot more capable of being led astray than most of us would think.
I’d wager there were probably some fairly educated people who bought into the Jim Jones thing too.
Without a doubt.
The Republican party is the original party of civil rights. The democrats turned a sincere effort to help black people into a vote-buying machine.
(Yes, I known McCain is not a Panamanian citizen, but he was born there.)
I very much agree with that. I also heard the other day that Martin Luther King was a registered Republican. Say what? If that’s true, wow!
BTW: the part about the democrat turning race into a vote buying machine, dead on target
Martin Luther King SR was a Republican who wanted to support Nixon, But Nixon tried to stay neutral while Jr. was in jail. The Kennedys made the call. I think that Newt would have been bold enough to have got there first.
You’re right. I agree. This memo—and the fact it’s from over 30 years ago—makes a strong statement.
I agree. This memo makes the case that Newt has for 31 years tried to bring more black voters into the GOP.
