Former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk is running as a Democrat against Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
She made her announcement today in an online video posted to her website and in an email message to supporters.
Falk says in the message that the 1 million signatures submitted Tuesday to recall Walker was an unprecedented and inspiring show of solidarity and determination.
Falk says she will make different choices than Walker on focus on creating good-paying jobs, a clean environment, successful schools and affordable health care.
Friends of Scott Walker reacted to Falk's candidacy shortly after she declared.
"Kathleen Falk's announcement today comes as no surprise, as we have long anticipated she would be the nominee hand-picked by big-government, public employee union bosses," said Ciara Matthews, communication director for Friends of Scott Walker. "Falk has already lost two statewide elections, failing to earn the trust of Wisconsin voters. Governor Walker's record of success and progress will stand in stark contrast to Falks intent to take Wisconsin back to the days of record job loss, massive deficits, and double digit tax increases. Falk's record as Dane County executive falls in lockstep with a Madison liberal ideology that is far outside the mainstream of the majority of Wisconsinites."
Falk is the second Democrat to announce they would challenge Walker. State Sen. Tim Cullen of Janesville is also running.
A number of other Democrats are considering getting into the race but havent made a decision.

The Snoid From Sheboygan. R. Crumb character.
She looks like a keeper; as in keep her away from me!
Bite your tongue. Scott Walker has a lovely family — 2 sons — and he bleeds Republican. You must be thinking of somebody else.
I don’t blame the dude for wearing a hazmat suit to hug that broad.
Make sure you get your Scott's straightened out. :)
While they have control of the Senate in Wisconsin, and the Governorship, they need to Amend the Recall Legislation to include PHOTO ID OF EVERY SIGNATORY to a Petition in the future, and if not already present, PHOTO ID for voting. Then, prosecute EVERY FRAUDULENT VOTER, and EVERY FRAUDULENT SIGNATORY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW.
There will probably be more than 10% FRAUDULENT SIGNATURES on the Petitions, but still be enough Union signatories that will allow the Recall to go forward onto the Ballot.
Thanks for the correction. There’s quite a difference between Brown and Walker, I’d say!
Your point is?
I need to get my Scott’s better straightened out.
Demented looking communist hag.
They go to all of the trouble to forge a million signatures and then run that creature?
Well, I guess if they had any brains they wouldn’t be communists in the first place.
If in fact these signatures for recall are public records, I expect they would be available for open review. Would it not be a prudent move for those endorsing voter ID to take a sampling of these signatures and look for examples of the fraud we expect is included? Then make the results public.
I would expect the average citizen would see this fraud for what it is which would help build support for a valid voter ID program.
I’m sure that will be done.
Everybody else turned them down, i.e. Barrett & Feingold. A couple more could come out of the woodwork yet. We'll have to wait and see.
If Wisconsin votes for this lady they are voting to go bankrupt.
California has too much built up residual capital from days gone by to be a good indicator.
Capitalism of the past fuels the appearance of functioning socialist states.
It's like zombies had to be born as cute babies and grow as normal children before they turned. And at one time the tattered clothes on a zombie start out initially off-the-rack stylish without brainstains.
It does get confusing sometimes.
Bears repeating. So you don't think zombies are born that way? ;-)
I will be happy to watch her lose again.
