Harry Reid: "Tea Party Dying Out As The Economy Is Getting Better" (video)

MR. GREGORY: Well, almost a year ago, I talked to you. You thought the tea party would die out as the economy got better. You, you weren't right about that.

SEN. REID: Well, I think the tea party's dying out as the economy's getting better slowly.

MR. GREGORY: You do think that?

SEN. REID: Oh, sure, no question about it. And, and, and you--and, and you...

MR. GREGORY: Well, we just talked about their, their muscular impact on the process.

SEN. REID: Well, but that's during the past year. I would hope that the two Republican leaders have learned what took place in the previous year. And, you know, what we have to focus on this year is rebuilding the economy. We have to, and the only way to do that is to create jobs and that's why the agenda that I'm moving forward on, I hope with some cooperation from the Republicans this time, is to do something about creating jobs. Our surface transportation bill, it'll save a million jobs, create a lot more jobs, Federal Aviation Administration, that's more than 200,000 jobs. We're having a very important piece of legislation, important to this network right here, IP, and that's of course dealing with informational--with, with making sure that we have intellectual property that's protected and we need to do that. And that--that's also job saving. So that's what we need to work on, things that create jobs and protect the American economy.

It’s probably just the internecine warfare that has come to dominate FR lately that’s soured my perception a bit..

Just because there is in-fighting here over candidates on this or that (I've dead-tagged Perry, Gingrich, Huntsman, etc. here for one reason or another), doesn't mean that we won't eventually end up coalescing around a candidate. We need to be allowed in this interim period to influence who that candidate is, that's all.

“Where’s the recovery”?

The MSM says so - so it must be so.. And that is what the majority of the dumbo’s in this country will believe. One only had to watch the Fox Forum this last Saturday evening to understand this country will continue to self destruct. It was obvious, from the questions asked by the “undecided” just how ingrained the “gimme” attitude is in our citizenry. The overriding concern seemed to be “what is the government going to do for me?” I so wanted one of the candidates to say “you people just need to get used to the idea of doing something for yourselves” Or “if I become president, you federal employees are going to find most of the agencies for which you work erased and you should start thinking about new careers right now.”

You obviously no nothing of the Tea Party. We can’t march, or occupy DC every damned second of every damn day! We have to go to work; we have to see over our families, and households; we are the responsible.

We do write our legislators, both conservative, and communist, and give them the what for when they F¥€< up. We meet locally to build solutions to local issues, and uplift potential candidates.

Reid is a Commie Putz...don’t fall for his, and the lamestream medias lies...they are designed to dispirit, an demorallize. Looks like it is working on some.

I can’t regard MTP as a serious “news” program if David Gregory failed to ask Senate leader Harry Reid why he hasn’t brought the budget up for vote in three years. Tell me, did Gregory ask this question?

I wish to go on record here as saying I find this ‘ad’ for Free Republic offensive and counterproductive.

The economy was gonna get better on its own. But +10% unemployment (real numbers) is now the new normal. What was it under Bush? 6%?

Federal Aviation, jobs:

12.15.11-220 American Eagle - 119 pilots and 104 flight attendants are ‘likely’ to be laid off[AirNation]

AMR CEO Tom Horton in an email today told employees that American Airlines will ground planes, re-size its network. I that means pink slips might be around the corner?

12.04.11-Elderly Woman [85] Sues TSA Over Strip Search... The elderly passenger, for some unmentioned reason, refused the x-ray imaging scan and probably figured how bad could the standard body search be. Well, she felt very violated [OMG!], claimed she was humiliated; and also injured in this gentle process, when her walker suddenly struck her in the leg, leaving her with a "gash" and a “bloody sock.

As I can wander off subject like Harry Reid: You may have read back in November, our government announced: “The U.S. government has found no evidence any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race,” Phil Larson, White House Office of Science & Technology Policy, under the program called Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence (SETI).
“In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public’s eye.”

Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman had to be disappointed as Krugman said in an interview with Fareed Zakaria back in August; his hopes were that, "If we discovered that space aliens were planning to attack and we needed a massive buildup to counter the space alien threat and really inflation and budget deficits took secondary place to that, this slump would be over in 18 months...there was a Twilight Zone episode like this in which scientists fake an alien threat in order to achieve world peace. Well, this time...we need it in order to get some fiscal stimulus." I guess the government office of hunting for Space Aliens and finding none [I wonder if pink slips will be involved], disputes Dennis Kucinich and gal pal's space alien sighting in Washington State.

If they would only listen to the conservative message from the Tea Party, which has greatly influenced elections and policy in runaway government tax and spending, then they would not have to be looking for those extraterrestrial or #OWS types to "stimulate" the economy.

[Government, Tea party, economy, stimulus, air travel, Krugman, Kucinich, TSA, AA, aliens, pink-slips]

The main power of what Media has termed “Tea Party” has never been in the publicized ramblings and machinations of the myriad “Tea-Party Pseudonymed” wannabes that get the coverage.

The real power is in the disgust, dissatisfaction and tangible enmity of loosely affiliated Tea Party sympathizers - real normal Americans fed up with the Halfrican Muslim and his Democrat Party. These people are still here, surviving and waiting.

Obama has clearly proven not to be the "One they were waiting for". They intend to vote come November, and it doesn’t matter one tinker’s damn what any quasi-official “Tea Party” claimant organization says - they will not count in the end.

Yes. The Tea Party has been a spontaneous, openly expressed opposition to Obama's presidency, but never formally organized. It showed up in 2010 and it will show up in 2012.

Perhaps as important as the maintenance of Tea Party verve is what I see as further erosion, discontent, and disillusionment on the part of the left, which should manifest itself in depressed turnout in 2012.

Obama has clearly proven not to be the "one they were waiting for".

The Tea party gave the GOP the House with a mandate to CUT SPENDING, the GOP PROMISED to cut 100 billion in 2011, how did that work out?

This week the GOP controlled House will hold a PHONY vote on raising the debt ceiling AGAIN by over 1 trillion dollars. The GOP will talk talk talk and the ceiling will be raised since the GOP already voted to raised it. If the Tea Party is dead it died at the hands of the lying GOPers that the Tea Party voted into power.

The GOP will come to regret throwing the Teas Party under the bus.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Many of the thousands who showed up for Tea Party rallies were what was once described as "the silent majority." Many of them were not political junkies (like we are) and had never before imagined in their wildest dreams taking to the streets, in a sense, to express their outrage. It was totally out of their realm of experience.

They made their voices heard, and now they're just waiting, still seething. Their minds haven't changed.

The Tea Party, which has greatly influenced elections and policy in runaway government tax and spending is a real given.

But I believe Bachmann should be given some credit here for being a spokesperson for the values of the Tea Party. The Tea Party and/or a group called the The American Majority [in 7 states] and "trains" members for their part in the Tea Party--am confused--President Ned Ryun said Bachmann should step down, and get behind Governor Perry?

I guess Palin also agreed and told the press corps"it was not Bachmann's time".

Bachmann fought a strong race and should be congratulated for it. Palin was never in this Republican presidential race that I saw--she chose to be a Fox News government expert and analyst.

The Tea Party self named leader in my state which really had little influence, tried to say it helped the Governor pull of his election win-but of course did not and the governor was quick to say the same.. really the group was in name only living off the fame of the Original grass roots group. Now this leader has decided to drop his association with the TP as he might run for the Senate.. some of these leaders can get full of themselves even in the Tea Party.

But compare the Tea Party Grassroots Movement to the #OWS? In the Tea Party you had a successful and orderly revolution which made a difference for recognized change.

The #OWS made a lot of press, got loaded, seduced under-aged girls, seized property for their encampments, broke a zillion laws, defecated on police cars [not dead terrorists] --and accomplished?

If Reid and Pelosi didn’t steal elections and have idiot constituents, they would have been long gone by now. As it is, we’re stuck with them for life, like SC justices.
