Obama asks Congress for $1.2 trillion increase in nation’s borrowing limit

WASHINGTON President Barack Obama is asking Congress for another $1.2 trillion increase in the nations debt limit.
The request is largely a formality. Its the third and final request the president is allowed under a deal the White House and lawmakers reached in August to prevent a government default.
But Republicans are likely to use the election-year request as an opportunity to criticize the presidents spending policies.
Congress has 15 days to reject the presidents request. The White House says Obama would veto any objections in order to avoid a default.
Obama originally planned to make this request in late December. But with Congress on vacation until mid-January, lawmakers asked Obama to delay his request so they could vote on the matter when they return.

Let me ask you a judgment question. I found an NRO article with the quote from Jan 4th, 2011. It was never posted. Should I?

Vote?? Why would they want to vote? That might involve real discussion and debate. Just give the dictator what he wants. That's basically what they've been doing all along.

See, Congress and Obama have all been briefed on the Mayans being right about the world ending on Dec 21st of this year. We peons will never be told.
They’ll spend and spend until the meteor/planet X hits.
That’s the only explanation why they can’t stop....

Congress has 15 days to reject the presidents request. The White House says Obama would veto any objections in order to avoid a default. So Zero can increase the debt limit at will unless both houses of Congress can override his veto. That's quite a deal you got for us last summer, John Boner. Quite a deal. The one power you yourself controlled -- the purse strings -- you managed to piss away.
How is this even constitutional?

ALL spending is the responsibility of the House of Representatives, with its Republican speaker and large Republican majority.
