NEW YORK (AP) -- It was only a few nights after the Occupy protesters began sleeping in his church sanctuary when the Rev. Bob Brashear realized that his laptop was missing.
The refugees from Manhattan's Zuccotti Park had found their way to his cavernous Presbyterian church on a cold winter evening, hoping to stay for a few nights, maybe longer. It was the latest stopover for the nomadic group, which has been living in a rotating series of churches since the city shut down its camp in November.
"There was a sense of shock and sadness that it had happened," said Brashear, whose laptop will soon be replaced by Occupy organizers. "And there's a common understanding that if there's one more theft in the church, that's it."
This is what the Occupy encampment has become: a band of homeless protesters with no place to go. Amid accusations of drug use and sporadic theft, they've been sleeping on church pews for weeks, consuming at least $20,000 of the donations that Occupy Wall Street still has in its coffers. Their existence is being hotly debated at Occupy meetings: Are these people truly "Occupiers" who deserve free food and a roof over their heads?

Barry’s America.
Øbama is his alias which I refuse to use. Didn’t it cost him his law license too? Failure to disclose all his aliases to the bar or something like that?
God help this country. Seems like we thinkers are outnumbered.
The whole point of Occupy is everyone is equal, none "deserve" more than others. That Occupiers are debating this shows it has indeed devolved into Animal Farm.
‘There was a sense of shock and dismay’ after someone stole a laptop? Because perhaps this church does not understand Original Sin? Humans! it is not heaven down here...
“We don’t do this out of charity,” said 34-year-old Ravi Ahmad, who works for Columbia University and volunteers with Occupy in her spare time. “We do this so that whoever wants to work in the movement can work in the movement. This is a meritocracy.”
I thought we were all about “from each according to his need, to each according to his ability.”
But now we are a “meritocracy.”
So the people who work harder earn greater reward, and those who contribute nothing receive nothing...kind of like the capitalism that our movement is dedicated to destroy?????!!!!!!
That made me chuckle.
I love the way the Occupiers are complaining about suffering the consequences of the bad actions of a few. Some are doing work to fix up the church and others are just trashing it. Funny that these leaches want the rest of us hard working people to pay for their sorry A**es, but they don’t like it when it’s turned on them. Good for them. Reap what you sow.
If I were king, I would make the "Occupy" management (those that hold signature authority on Occupy bank accounts) permanently and personally liable for the welfare of these individuals.
I would relish in their knowledge that when the money runs out, they would have to continue to pay from their own pocket.
I wouldn't hold your breath, buddy.
The next sentence read:

Based on the amount of welfare recipients in this country I’m a little surprised it took them so long to realize that free loading is a big problem. Aren’t these the same groups that were trying to overwhelm the system? I guess it is O.K., unless they are overwhelming YOUR system. Welcome to reality occupiers!!!
Refugees from personal responsibility. And personal hygiene.
This will be first time in 25 years that the Rainbow stink people did not show.
he who is without sin, cast the first laptop.
.... We do this so that whoever wants to work in the movement can work in the movement. This is a meritocracy.
Yeah, that's a laugh. Occupy is a Meritocracy, and earn merit by producing whining complaints and redistribution rhetoric.
This morning I had a big bowl of complaints for breakfast and washed it down with a jug of whining. Then I put ten gallons of redistribution into the gas tank of my car, and walked downtown to pay my utility bill. After a full load of rhetoric, the darn clerk demanded I pay in cash greenbacks, the nerve.
By this time it felt like I hadn't had anything to eat all day, and I still had a long walk to get home.
Good thing Occupy is a Meritocracy.
Sounds a lot more like a “Hypocracy”!!!!
The marines should be given a ticker tape parade and the OWS crowd are scum. And rapists. And deranged. And those are their better qualities.

It's called a Reality Check.
Thanks for saying it so well. I’d love to see Marine enlistements shrink to zero as long as all the slime politicians in and out of the Corps keep up the attack.
