Penn State president to face alumni at town hall in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH -- Penn State University president Rodney Erickson faces a crowd of alumni Wednesday in Pittsburgh, some of whom aren't happy about the way the school handled the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, the firing of football coach Joe Paterno and a lack of transparency in dealing with the case.

Erickson is attempting to repair the school's image with alumni, faculty, staff and students, more than two months since Sandusky was arrested.

Some alumni have criticized the school saying it failed to conduct a complete investigation before firing Paterno and ousting Erickson's predecessor, Graham Spanier, while decrying the school's leadership as secretive and slow to act.

Erickson told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Tuesday that former president Spanier informed members of the board of trustees about the Sandusky grand jury investigation months before he was charged in November."

"He said he did not know details of what was discussed when Spanier met with board members in May or July when Erickson was the university’s provost."

“'I have no idea, because I wasn’t there,” the paper quoted Erickson as saying. “Nor did I know it was taking place.”

I wonder what the Board of Trustees knew in May or July. The indictments of the two Penn State administrators were handed down on November 5. Sandusky still had his keys to Penn State the week of the indictments and was working out in the special football weight room the day before the indictments were handed down. If the news reports were correct, Sandusky's name and phone number were still in the campus directory the Sunday after the indictments.

What did the Board of Trustees know in May or July?

I want to know who was the first law enforcement official (AG?, Gov?) to be alerted to the Sandusky problem and when did he know about it.

I’d like to know why after a period of time, Joe Paterno himself didn’t seek answers. He was the first person from Penn State that McQueery went to and all Joe did was hand it off to the AD? What if that was Joe Pa III his grandson in that shower stall? Sorry, but ignoring whatever happens to a guy who was butt ‘you know whating’ 10 year old boys is something I could never live with. I’d have made sure a full investigation took place and with plenty of eyes on the perp going forward. It seems like they all swept the thing under the rug.

This entire thing stinks to high heaven of a major cover-up.

Frankly, I’m sick of all the PSU loser fan base defending this “program” at all costs. The crap I read on Facebook from some “friends” has me about ready to lose it. Because I grew up about an hour & a half from Penn State, a large percentage of my high school friends are alumni. I hate to lose these people as friends, but their blatant disregard for morality in this situation is appalling. I have a feeling I’m gonna start going off on a few of them.

I hope the alumni at these townhall meetings light Erickson up.

I want to know all the other names of the homosexuals to whom Sandusky was passing around the boys. Same old, same old. Where they establish a “business” which deals in boys-—they are creating a “boy-sex ring”. I also want to know the names-—and put them in prison-—those producers who were raping Corey Feldmen and the other boy actors and passing them around at their elite little homosexual orgies.

This is the underground Satanic group of wealthy elites like in the Franklin Cover-Up-—the Bohemian Grove elites and the other sick godless people who believe in man/boy “love” and are involved in APA and the UN to normalize “intergenerational sex”. These people are evil and need to be locked up.

We’ve been offering up young girls on the altar of Big Time Sports for decades. Young boys couldn’t have been far behind.

I want to know who was the first law enforcement official (AG?, Gov?) to be alerted to the Sandusky problem and when did he know about it.

Which problem? Showering? Or manual stimulation, oral sex and anal sex?

If you're talking about 1998, with Victim #6 and "BK" (who was overseas in the military and could not be subpoenaed for the grand jury), remember that the mother caught it during the grooming process. All that was involved was showering together, bear-hugging the boy, and holding him up to give him a shampoo.

Sandusky admitted to that on the phone conversations that the University Park and Penn State University police eavesdropped on. He apologized and said he was wrong, but said he didn't think his 'private parts" touched the boy. He later promised child welfare that he wouldn't shower with another boy.

Ray Gricar, the Centre County District Attorney, decided not to bring charges.

Here you have an 11 year-old kid who is going to testify that Sandusky showered with him, hugged him, and gave him a shampoo. Similar thing happend with BK. No touching of the genitals and no sexual acts.

On the other side, you have Sandusky, who has been the defensive coordinator for Penn State for 22 years, and a coach at PSU for 31. He played there for four years. He was famous in the Nittany Valley area for starting The Second Mile, and everybody who was anybody was on the real or honorary board (including every famous name in the football world). And Sandusky was helping this poor kid, as he did many of them.

And your jury is composed of the same people who are defending Joe Paterno now even though the know that CHILD RAPE was involved. And they're being asked to put Sandusky, the Penn State/Second Mile hero away for showering?

Gricar figured he would never win a case against Sandusky and didn't prosecute (which is good, because if he had lost, it would have been even harder to get any of these victims to come forward).

After Gricar's disappearance on April 15, 2005 became news again with the Penn State grotesquerie. Gricar's nephew says that Gricar always had a sour taste in his mouth for Penn State football after 1998 - because as an experience DA and investigator, he thought that Penn State football had stonewalled the 1998 investigation into Sandusky and child abuse.

On tonight’s ESPN Outside the Lines with with Bob Ley, Brandon Short reported (per him, confirmed with two Penn State administration sources) that the Board of Trustees was briefed in March and that Jerry Sandusky met with the Board of Trustees the weekend of the October 29 Illinois game.

It's now reported that Jerry Sandusky was in the private box of PSU President Graham Spanier to watch Joe Paterno's 409th (record-setting al-time Division I coaching) win on October 29:

Jerry Sandusky caught Joe Paterno's record 409th win from the president's box at Beaver Stadium days before the disgraced former Penn State assistant football coach's November arrest, according to a newspaper report.

The Patriot-News of Harrisburg, citing sources close to Penn State's trustees, said that the 67-year-old Sandusky was seen in then-president Graham Spanier's box on Oct. 29 and later stopped in at the school's Nittany Lion booster club.

University spokesman Bill Mahon told the paper, however, that a look over the guest list for the box for every Penn State game dating back to 2008 revealed that Sandusky was never invited to sit in the school president's office's box.

It hasn't been clearly stated whether this appearance was in addition to Sandusky's presence at the Board of Trustees meeting the same date, as alleged on Between the Lines (above), or whether the reporter confused the two events.
