Gingrich answers Rush Limbaugh
The Hill ^ | 1/10/2012 | Christian Heinze

Posted on 01/10/2012 1:23:20 PM PST by americanophile

On Fox & Friends this morning, Newt Gingrich fought back against Rush Limbaugh's criticism of his rhetoric on Bain Capital.

FOX HOST STEVE DOOCY: I was driving around yesterday in my car, and I was listening to Rush Limbaugh, and he was talking about you and how you're going after Mitt Romney and Bain Capital.

And he said that you're using the language of the Left to beat up on Romney over Bain.

He said it makes him uncomfortable because that's what the Left will do if Romney is the nominee.

GINGRICH: Well, I don't think I'm using the language of the Left. I'm using the language of classic American populism.

Main Street has always been suspicious of Wall Street, small businesses have always worried about big businesses.... and I think people have a natural concern when they see financiers come in from out of town, take over a company, take all the profits, and then leave people who are unemployed behind.

I was supportive of Gingrich until this. Getting knifed by a moderate doesn’t hurt; you know what you’re going to get, but getting stabbed in the back by a conservative is infuriating. Newt should know better.

That’s how I feel. Maybe there is a case to be made that the specific transactions Romney/ Bain conducted were unethical “looting,” but Newt and Perry haven’t made that case — and my presumption lies with the free market, not government control.

I like Perry too.....but he does not articulate well. Doubt there is enough time left for him to learn.

I don’t get it. When Newt complained about Romney and Paul attacking him he was fatuously told that if he couldn’t stand the ‘moderate’ heat he should get out of the kitchen because obama would do worse and be meaner when he did it. Now Newt’s attacking Romney’s record and suddeenly Rush thinks that’s out of line???? Bull crap!

Rush jumped the shark today. Newt took it on the chin from Mitt’s SuperPAC without responding, and it killed him in IA. He called on Willard to put an end to it, and smarmy Romney went into his “if you can’t stand the heat” response.

Newt is asking Willard to provide some explanation for his less-stellar Bain acquisitions. Romney can ignore it, but it won’t go away. Remember Willie Horton and Dukakis? Al Gore used it in the primary, and Dukakis couldn’t come up with an answer. GHW Bush took advantage of Willie Horton, and Obama will take advantage of Bain.

Romney should consider this a favor and come up a way of handling his Bain past, or he will have big trouble ahead...not that I care in the Primaries, but I won’t be happy if Willard is the nominee and Obama wins again.

True. I remember in several debates, Newt working very hard to avoid all moderator attempts to get him to attack other repubs. Then he pulls ahead. So Romney goes into all out attack mode like the slimeball he is.
Newt responds in kind, and LORD the wailing that ensues.

No Romney,,still.
And like in 2008,, Romney will implode in the South. Nobody wants him.

Wages are paid regardless if profit is made or not. If a company loses money, they still have to pay their workers.

Not for long, where does the money come from to pay salary and wages...profits.....no profits no employees.

So why the f* (you damn fool) should a company be expected to SHARE profit to wage earners when profit is earned?

I have no clue why you are posting that to me, is that just a statement or is it a response to something you inferred from my post?

Ugh. What the heck is he thinking??? "Classic American populism." Like William Jennings Bryan and Huey Long? Like the old Southern Dem racist politicians? Like George Wallace? Once again, Newt speaks before he thinks.

That’s fine. The question is: with Republicans using leftist rhetoric and sacrificing capitalism for political expedience, will there be a viable alternative to Obama, or will the debate have been moved so far to the left that it’s just a question of whether we move to European style socialism or whatever the next level of government control the left desires?

I’ll stick with Newt on this. Whatever it takes to take down Romney is fine by me.

The people complaining the loudest will in all probability will have no chance to vote for Newt if he doesn’t survive New Hampshire.

In the end we will vote for whomever the Establishment let us vote for, or in my case against. Anyone West of the Mississippi is only dreaming if they think they have any affect on the outcome of this race.

Go shout at the TV same effect.

>>>What- are you afraid more people will see Newt for the slimeball he is and not vote for him? He and Romney both are poison and the sooner Conservatives get a clue about that, the sooner we can figure out how to actually turn this nation back in the RIGHT direction. Neither Newt or Mitt are the right candidate for that job.

Newt is not perfect but who else is there that came forward and put their name out there to fight for the country? Newt is a better conservative (with his flaws) than Romney. Time is running out. We have to unite and stop destroying the conservatives, him or Rick S. Unless the Tea Party is going to put Palin in (don’t see that miracle happening), it’s either those 2 guys.

FYI, The Paul campaign says it wants no part of the rhetoric being used against Romney by Newt, Perry and Huntsman. Paul still believes in capitalism and free markets. Santorum has said something similar.

I told you all.

Newt can’t be trusted. He debates well. But he is scary unpredictable and he is not dedicated to conservative principles or the constitution. Newt is very insecure and dedicated only to newt.

Be afraid of a gingrich presidency.

You just named the three big populists I was going to name. There are other equally bad examples. (I suppose there are some GOOD populists, but Newt is implying that the popular is THEREFORE the good, and it ain’t always so. Angry leftists hate the rich whether or not the rich earned money.)

I can not believe how this campaign is going. The most important election in American History and the best the GOP can offer is a liberal mormon and a statist georgian?

Perry hearts illegals and Santorum is getting Borked by the MSM. Huntsman is ajoke. I cant believe this field....
