I'm using the language of classic American populism. Ugh. What the heck is he thinking??? "Classic American populism." Like William Jennings Bryan and Huey Long? Like the old Southern Dem racist politicians? Like George Wallace? Once again, Newt speaks before he thinks.

You just named the three big populists I was going to name. There are other equally bad examples. (I suppose there are some GOOD populists, but Newt is implying that the popular is THEREFORE the good, and it ain’t always so. Angry leftists hate the rich whether or not the rich earned money.)
