If you are looking for a conservative alternative to Romney and had to choose today between Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry or Rick Santorum, which one would you choose?

Newt Gingrich....In my opinion he's the only one that has a chance to beat Obama.

My mistake. After seeing the trailor for the pro-Gingrich superpac’s new leftist, anti-capitalist, anti-corporate, propaganda film that fully embraces the viewpoint and rhetoric of the Marxist occupy movement and the Obama socialist regime, Michael Moore style, I will not be supporting Gingrich. Santorum moves up a slot.

Shame you can post 3 times but only vote once.

Jim, I accidentally posted my choice to humblegunner instead of you.

I’m for Rick Perry.

“The person who SHOULD be a candidate is not in the race :/”

I think a drab man with drab ideas from a drab political party made her an offer she could not refuse. Not one she wanted, and not to her benefit, but one she could not refuse.

If I could wave a magic wand and get one of those three to be the only candidate other than Romney, it would be Rick Perry. He’s the best of the three on limited government, on growth, on policy, and on executive experience.

He’s the only one who counters Romney’s perceived “strengths”. Perry is as much of an outsider as Romney. He has much more and better executive experience. The only thing he doesn’t have is private executive experience, but neither do the other two guys.

The problem with Perry, when compared to the other two, is that he isn’t polling as well as the other two. But that was what the magic wand was for, to make Perry the front-runner. If Perry was the front-runner, he’d BE the front-runner, as the flock would swarm back to him, and he’d beat Romney easily enough.

Perry is also the least likely to implode of these three. Gingrich is an implosion waiting to happen. (Not a “senior moment” implosion, I mean actual proposals that turn people off).

I presume that Gingrich and Santorum are going to get the nod here, Gingrich because he WAS the frontrunner, and Santorum because he won Iowa. That’s not really a good way to choose a candidate, but whatever.

If not Perry, I hope for Santorum, because while he and Newt are both big-government types, Santorum is more circumspectful and less likely to be so certain he is right when he isn’t. Both of them are rated poorly on growth, but Santorum is more likely to hire good advisors who will help him out, while Gingrich is unlikely to surround himself with people who would disagree with him.

Perry
Santorum
Newt

But they all bring good stuff to the table, so any of them are acceptable.

Have at it. For me: Gingrich, then Santorum. Thanks to MrEdd for the ping!

FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. Newt. He’s the only one who sees the “whole picture” and knows how to deal with it. He is a genius. I would sleep better at night if he was at the helm. Besides, he is the one that the left is most afraid of, that should make him number one on our side.

Could someone please explain to my why Sarah Palin is sitting this one out?

Maybe because:

She can accomplish more, ATT, under the radar, as a king maker, finding, encouraging new conservatives to get into the game country wide - like last time when we gained nearly 1,000 new seats in state legislatures - and new governors (Like in my state, after 40 years of RAT Rule = we took back all 3 houses. That had a lot to do with Sarah and the Tea Party.

These gains are VITAL.

Also, how many pounds of flesh is she - as you intimate - obligated to give of herself and her family?

She's still too toxic, as to the rabid media, and would bring too much distraction AND she would, ATT, be more valuable in a non-elective position such as in the energy dept...which is a crucial part of our security and independence and in which she has a proven record and expertize. She could hit the ground running, especially with a President Gingrich - The "Drill Here, Drill Now" guy and the "Drill, Baby, Drill" gal.

Sarah was never in it for personal gain. But where she could best help.

You did see that Todd just endorsed Newt? That's a telegraphed message, if ever there was one.

Last, but far from least, she doesn't, as so many seem to think, owe it to us to put herself and her family in that wringer again.
