Sarah Palins husband is endorsing Newt Gingrich for president, Todd Palin told ABC News today.
But Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and John McCains 2008 Republican running mate, has yet to decide who is best able to go up against Barack Obama, Todd Palin said.
Palin said he has not spoken to Gingrich or anyone from the former House speakers campaign. But he said he respects Gingrich for what he went through in the 1990s and compared that scrutiny in public life to what Sarah Palin went through during her run for the vice presidency.

It helps him beat Romney. Romney's strategy is to win a plurality against a fragmented field. If the field can coalesce around Gingrich (or any other conservative candidate), Romney will flame out yet again and, hopefully, for the last time.
Exactly = No one will really doubt, now, where Sarah stands - and it's a great move - the extra press on this will be great -
Few would think that, if Todd is for someone different than Sarah is, he would say anything in public - which would create a media storm of negativity for Sarah later.
Most will understand this announcement...
Interesting, if you said protestant I could agree with you. Evangelical simply means that you believe certain doctrinal statements about the faith, so catholics can be evangelical.
Newt is a Conservative most of the time. He may or may not be a Christian, i.e., a born-again Christian. (He is a “small-c” christian, in that he isn’t Jewish, Muslim, atheist, etc.) One thing he isn’t is evangelical. (Catholics and evangelical Christians are completely separate.)
Not saying he wouldn’t be a good president; I think he would.

Newt is not an Evangelical Christian; he is a Convenience Catholic.
I was replying to you on the other thread when it got yanked.
I agree with you that this is Sarah’s way of giving Newt a bit of a bump in advance of the South Carolina primary. This is subtle, but most thinking voters will perceive that Sarah’s on board with Newt.
I also agree that two of the remaining conservatives (the two Ricks) need to step aside for the good of the country. I don’t believe that either one of them has enough support to take Romney out in the big states.
Perry’s numbers have been in single digits for nearly six months, and show no signs of rebounding. He should have ended his campaign after the Iowa vote. He’s not coming back.
Santorum’s polling numbers have been even worse, during the course of the campaign. I think his win in Iowa was interesting (maybe even exciting), but I believe it’s a temporary bubble that’s going to burst.
Looking at this as a four way race, Romney wins because the other three split the conservative vote. He’s gotta be loving it.
What does that mean?
What does that mean?
Too late. It's already gone viral, and Rush is talking about it now. It's an endorsement, whether Todd meant it that way or not.
Were Sarah in any way inclined to endorse Newt, Todd would not have done this.
Obviously Sarah is strongly disinclined to support Newt in the primary, so Todd took rash action.
We know that Sarah will support the nominee.
I think any one of the three left could take out Romney if they were the lone conservative. I would go with any of them if they catch fire, but I am hoping that will be Newt. They're all flawed, but I think he would be our best candidate of those running. I'd support one of the others if they get to the top of the polls in the next two weeks.
>> “Huckabee would have been annihilated even worse than McCain was.” <<
.
I don’t think so; I think he would have done considerably better, but he would have been just a Republican Clinton if elected.
Can’t think of anyone else near to politics that is that good looking...even on the TV News. Most in Hollywood can’t compare. That said....I doubt he endorsed anybody. You know how the media is.
Maybe it means Newt found a religion that would overlook his marital affairs and falied marriages and give him an “annullment”.
Todd P is free to make his statement if someone asks him a question. He and his family have endured more attacks in the past few years that no one should have had to experience, for no other reason than they were conservatives in the spotlight. I just didn't expect the same attacks to come from Frepers.
Okay, nice words, but...an endorsement is an endorsement. That’s not an endorsement.
The Palins. One of the few groups it’s always okay for the press to lie about.
As usual, you and I are on the same page regarding the dynamics of this race.
Like you, I would give my support to any of the three remaining conservatives should the other two bow out, but I honestly feel that of the three, Newt stands the best chance of knocking out Romney. Of that group, he would also make the better president for these times.
Before Sarah Palin announced she would not run, every statement, every tweet, every whisper was a message from her.
I respect Todd Palin’s comments a lot more than I do yours.
