Ron Paul's campaign is out with this new ad in South Carolina, which hits Rick Santorum on his "record of betrayal."

"One serial hypocrite exposed," the ad says, showing clips of Newt Gingrich. "Now another has emerged: Rick Santorum, a corporate lobbyist and Washington politician. A record of betrayal."

How can you say those things about the man who wrote the Constitution, and invented liberty? :-)

Ron Paul needs to be put on Meds and monitored closely.

“His entire support in IA were Dems and radical kook leftist and bussed in union trolls.”

I disagree with you. But for the sake of discussion, let’s say that you’re right. In which case...who cares? They showed up and they voted. Each Dem and radical kook out there has just as many votes as you and I do. I’d rather see them voting for a smaller government candidate that a big government one.

“This is what Sarah Palin was alluding to when she said the Republicans had better be willing to listen to Paul and his supporters, and accomodate them in some ways. She seems to already know they will be shopping around...”

Yup. Her comments were the third thing I saw that made me think a deal might be in the cards. Let’s hope it’s someone like Rick Santorum who wins the deal.

I positively loathe Mitt Romney but I really, really respect Rand Paul.

Watch it. If ya admit the old man has some damn good ideas, based on some old ideas, you could be sent to the corn field.

Grunthor?...I like it.

If we let 125 thousand Iowans dictate what we do, we deserve to fail as a country.

True is some respects...

But you know that the size of the Iowa caucus only matters if you want to analyze it from from a mathematical standpoint. This isn't a math game. It's a game of perception and momentum. From that standpoint Iowa matters greatly, as it always has, and has this year.

As with perception and momentum, timing is also critical. Picking a new horse (Santorum) at the last second of the Iowa caucus was foolish. But Iowa did it anyway. They gave Rick a good night, but also left him with a monumental - if not impossible - hill to climb. We went into Iowa with one possible viable alternative to Romney (one who may have been at the precipice of getting the necessary funding and organization together to make a go of it), and we left Iowa with two. Two that are now much weaker. The odds of stopping Romney are now much much worse.

As it has many times in the past, this party when given many options, will pick the worst.

“I positively loathe Mitt Romney but I really, really respect Rand Paul.”

Ask yourself a couple of questions:
- Why is Rand taking such an up front presence at Ron Paul events of late?
- Why did Rand unequivocally say that he didn’t think a 3rd party run would be a good idea? You’d think ther Paul camp would want to keep that out there as a bargaining chip.

Wrong Paul is a kook. But in keeping with his Libertarian leanings, so long as he hurts no one else, he has a perfrect right to be a kook.

Rand on the other hand appears to be much more level headed, conservative and likeable. As much as I know he loves his Daddy, I can forgive him that so long as there are not too many other lapses in judgement.

On the flips side, there are a few not so ‘nutty’ comments he’s made in the past:

Perhaps Paul is a demrat spoiler. But the real question is if there is anything in the Paul ad that is actually truthful? Anybody, anybody?

Neither Romney(care) or Gingrich lead in SC. This is a Bible Belt state. It’s citizens pride themsleves on individual sufficiency. They hate Big Government. There is no way SC will go for these two idiots. Santorum has the best chance here because he’s a documented small govenrment and family values guy. Anybody who says differently is lying.

The one or two alleged Freepers who’re saying otherwise are nothing more than Romney/Gingrich plants.

As opposed to Santorum who packed bills with earmarks and voted for the bill.

The charge is hypocracy. Santorm admits it. Paul will not.

Right...that is the most important question...not who is running the ad

Did Santorum vote 5 times to raise the debt ceiling?

It’s most certainly true and not surprising to me...Santorum does not have a strong conservative record but it seems that the dislike of Mitt is so strong among conservatives that many want to close their eyes to the Santorum record

I predict Newt will rise again

My cursory look at his lifetime of being a political hack, is that he promotes himself by leaving the left alone, and attacking the right.

That is what libertarians do. They attack conservatives and go soft on liberals. I've seen it time and time again.

Yes. There is a difference. One guy is honest; one guy is a lying sack of cr@p. I'll take the honest guy any day.

That's patently absurd. Libertarians are among the staunchest critics of the marxist, authoritarian left...
