Im rather tired of all the people who dont like Romney trying to claim Rick Santorum is not a big government conservative, or not a pro-life statist. I would support him before I would support Romney too, but I have no intention of giving up ideological and intellectual consistency in the name of beating Mitt Romney.
Rick Santorum is a pro-life statist. He is. You will have to deal with it. He is a big government conservative. Santorum is right on social issues, but has never let his love of social issues stand in the way of the creeping expansion of the welfare state. In fact, he has been complicit in the expansion of the welfare state.
I and some friends, none of us Romney fans, have set about exploring Santorums record since Wednesday morning. Here now is a non-exhaustive list of what we have found. It does not even include his support for No Child Left Behind, Medicare Part D, etc.

You pose some scary “what if’s”. No doubt.
It’s highly unlikely that true conservatives will ever override the evil pro-death policies we now have that - if overturned - would result in such a scenario.
And even if abortions were outlawed, it is unlikely that such a doom and gloom possibility could occur.
But even if this were to come to pass.... It (no more abortions) would turn our country around to recapture the glory and greatness that we once had.
Because, unless and untill we regain our moral footing, we will NEVER have a chance at obtaining the economic balance as we once had.
2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Because this is true, we must focus on first things first. Putting pro-lifers into office takes priority over anything else.
/religous rant off. lol
Actually, Daniels, at the last CPAC, wanted a “truce” on the social issues. That means he wanted to run as a candidate why did not give a damn about the continuing American Holocaust of 50+ million sliced, diced and hamburgerized innocent babies and about fudge packing posing as marriage and being subsidized by our taxes. That does not look good EVER, regardless of circumstances. If Daniels likes money so much, then his political future should be limited to matters fiscal and he should have a future only if he does not get in the way of social conservatism in any way by aggression or negligence.
I’m afraid it’s going to take more than predictions of divine economic intervention if we vote for your favored candidate, or divine retribution if we don’t.
lol

Well said, BlackElk. And the odd thing is that RINOS/liberal Rs lose. They lose. THEY LOSE!!!! Conservative Rs win.
It’s really quite simple.
IMHO, Newt is the best choice, but Newt has some “Big Government Conservatism” in him, too. No matter who winds up as the final ‘12 GOP Presidential/Vice Presidential ticket, the majority of voters must be able to vote for it, because another term of Obama will make third world socialism a permanent thing for the entire U.S.!
One word:
BUMP!
I’m in this camp:
Santorum ? Why not ?
Gingrich ? Sure!
Perry ? What the heck ?
Mitt Commie ? Not for me, comrade.
RuPaul ? “Not I,” said the Cat in the Hat.
Jon Huntsman ? Really ? I mean, really ?
Jim Robinson made a very, very valid point not to long ago: We the Conservatives should not be tearing down our own. In my humble opinion, we should be attacking the pretenders like Mitt Commie, Jew hater Ron Paul, and whoever that Huntsman dork is. They’re not Conservatives and that makes them part of the problem.
Jew hater Ron Paul is NOT good on any social issues. Last time I checked, pushing the evil (yes, evil) homosexual agenda and wanting to legalize prostitution are NOT pages out of the Conservative playbook.
Admit it, if a year ago someone posted that Santorum and Gingrich would be hailed on Free Republic as our conservative presidential candidate standard bearers they would have been laughed off the Internet.
If Daniels had stayed in the race this week might have been his week. I'm waiting for the wide eyed galloping FReeper herd to start telling me how conservative Huntsman as Santorum falls to the long knives.
Since his expressed desire for a truce on social issues, Mitch Daniels is dead to me now and forever. Social issues come first. Its nice that he ran a tight ship in Indiana but money is only money.
Arrrgh. I’m having second thoughts about Santorum.
Great post! Great tagline! God bless you and yours.
Exactly!
AND, of course, Poppy Bush wants the Mittwit to be nominated along with Barbara Planned Barrenhood Bush. His Chief of Staff John Sununu the Elder who gave us Swish Souter for SCOTUS has endorsed Romney in New Hampshire and assures us that the Mittwit is a conservative. Well, maybe compared to Chairman Mao or Che Guevara but, so what? He is still a two-faced serial liar and loser who expects to take conservatives for fools on behalf of his investment banker buddies.
If I’m not mistaken, he thinks every drug should be legalized as well.
If they force Mittwit (that’s good) on us, he will lose, and the country will be thrust so deep into the inferno I don’t know how it will be saved. Even if Mittwit won (which he would not), the inferno would only be prevented if there were both an R majority Senate and House and the majority of the Rs had moral compasses and courage.
Fat chance.
By “that’s good” I meant the name for the idiot.
This election will be a challenge to defeat the entitlement class, unions, tree huggin liberals, socialists, muslims, and marxists. But in the process of choosing the best candidate to defeat them, and the odds are against us, we should not accept another big govt rino socialist.
Sadly, from the looks of things, we are headed down that road, yet again.
