Longing For Home
January 6, 2012
When our son Stephen was a youngster, he went away for a week at a Christian summer camp. Later that week, we got a letter from him that was addressed to Mom and Dad Crowder and simply said, Please come and take me home today. What his childs mind couldnt comprehend, of course, was that it would be days before we got his letter and more time before we could come for him. All his young heart knew was that he longed for home and for Mom and Dadand that can be tough for a child.
Sometimes we can be like Stephen as we think about this world. Its easy to think longingly about being with Jesus and begin to wish we could go to our eternal home (Eccl. 12:5) where we will be with Christ (Phil. 1:23). As Gods children (John 1:12), we know that this world will never truly be home to us. Like the apostle Paul, we especially feel that way when the struggles of life are hard. While in Rome awaiting trial, Paul wrote, I am hard pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better (Phil. 1:23). He loved serving Christ, but a part of him longed to be with the Savior.
Its comforting to know that we can think ahead to being with Jesusin a home that is far better.
To see His face, this is my goal;
The deepest longing of my soul;
Through storm and stress my path Ill trace
Till, satisfied, I see His face! Chisholm
I am hard pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.
Philippians 1:23

Good Evening Ladies!
Well, this is it, the last night before the Grand Oddyssey to Florida. The Wee Beastie is all packed and fueled, and ready for the off.
Tomorrow it’s Southward Bound. Needless to say, I’ll be out of FReep-touch for a while, but I’ll check in on the Saturday thread to let everybody know I got there. If I stop someplace Friday, I’ll see about setting up the laptop and getting a signal out to y’all.
Tonight, I’m enjoying one last take-out order of Chinese, and surfing around YouTube for clips of interest. Saturday, it’ll be a home-cooked meal courtesy of Demented Sis!

Howdy, Sarge! (((hugs))) I know you must be so excited to be taking off for an adventure. I hope you have a wonderful time and stay safe on your trek south.

Good evening, Mac...*HUGS*...it has warmed up to 10 degrees and snow.
I just started my car and brushed 2 inches of snow off it. It is coming down gently.
Hope you had a good day at work and still no residual issues from your fall.

We've more or less broken the cold spell for the next couple of days - at 32 now - going into the 50's tomorrow. Yesterday was our first real cold day of the season - we were down to about 10. It's rare for us to get much below that, although I can recall years when we were sub zero here.
Safe passage home!

Good evening, Luv...((HUGS))...I’m going to brave the elements and head home. Could be interesting...several people called into the radio show and said it is bad out there in different parts of town. I will let you know when I make it home. LOL!

Please do let us know when you arrive safely.....and stay clear of the crazy ones out there! (((hugs)))
