This is the teenager shot dead by police for brandishing a pellet gun in the hallway of his school - posing with a friend holding the 'weapon'.
Jaime Gonzalez, 15, was gunned down because he would not lower the gun which officers believed was a loaded pistol.
---
He said he heard police run down the hallway and yell 'put the gun down,' before several shots were fired.

yup....and when you have a regular 8th grader having to go to school with these “older” kids - it’s a recipe for disaster.
As if the middle school years aren’t hard enough as it is.
There is a father who made a statement too. Sounds like both parents knew he had problems ... but want to know why lethal force was used.
Yet both acknowledge that this was the logical outcome.
The cop must be going through hell knowing he had to kill a 15 year old kid, but to find out the kid only had a pellet pistol must really add to the sorrow.
Prayers to this poor cop.
Daisy BB gun on left, Beretta Cougar 9mm on right. Almost identical...
How long will it be before the plastic water pistol is banned—es verdad a boy was penalized for eating a piece of pizza in the shape of a pistol and then waving it about. IT is not the guns that are what ails our society —it is the fact we have turned form God— we have chosen as our leaders men who who donot rule in fear of God—we have heaped to ourselves teachers-having itching ears to hear their pleasant talk of a better world if only we follow -the weak Prince- the wicked leader fears an armed populace. A people turned from God are ruled by the strong arm of man -by laws-and by fear.
Awright, awright. You got me on that one. The odds were in my favor, though.
He posed as a wannabe gang banger. He wanted people to think he was an armed bad guy. He succeeded.
Picture tells the story. Probably just finished watching “American Me” or “Juice”. Thought he was a badass. Now he’s a badass with a leak.
So true.
A child that is introduced to guns, gun safety and marksmanship skills as part of the normal maturation process would never do something so stupid.
Every Boy Scout knows (or at least used to know):
Guns (neither pellet guns nor firearms) are not toys.
You don’t brandish a gun just to appear tough.
You don’t bring a pellet gun to a gun fight.
Once again, the lack of proper upbringing results in tragedy. It’s probably safe to assume this child had no consistent, responsible, law-abiding male role model in his life. It’s also a safe bet that this child never received structured and appropriate training in the responsible use of firearms.
Our society is broken and our future is assured (it’s not a pretty picture). This incident is just one tiny snippet of what is to come.
I am a former Chicago P D. That is exactly the way we were trained.
In both pictures, he has that thuggish smirk on his face. Yes, 15 and in 8th grade, combined with weapon, history, visible attitude... I feel sorry for the cop, because if that had been a real gun and he’d hurt or killed another student, you know what the outcry would have been. And even a pellet gun, if placed to someone’s temple, can cause serious injury or death.
“I am a former Chicago P D. That is exactly the way we were trained.”
yeah, agree, no argument here. Readers should keep in mind that the average uniformed police officer will spend his entire career without having to draw his weapon in a high threat situation. So, unless a situation is dealt with by those trained for high stress situations such as the SWAT dudes this is the outcome to be expected.
15 yr old 8th grader????
What bothers me it the grandmother mentioned the stepmom raised him and was “very strict” with him.
How many of us know kids with strict parents who are totally wild away from home/rebellious? I knew plenty of them growing up. Being to strict almost always has the opposite affect of what a parent intends.
I thought the grandmother reacted better than most people do in these situations. She accepted that the police were doing their jobs and that the boy had put himself in this situation. She admitted he wasn’t perfect. Her grandson just died, I wouldn’t expect her to trash him.
This kid did something very stupid with fatal results.
“SO the kid was 15 and in the 8th grade? That right there tells me the kid was an idiot.”
Yup, what I was going to post. My son @ 15 was in 10th grade! Not 8th. How many times did this boy fail? Mommy said he was a “good student’. Well, probably by now since he’d taking the class several times it seems!!!!
Guarantee he admired the cartels and if wasn't already employed by them, aspired to be.
