“Perry has been quite strong in the last three debates. He has improved his performance in each one and is now equal to the task.”

I must respectfully disagree. While he definitely has improved....he still is not remotely “strong” in debates. I’m not saying he is stupid or defective.....it just isn’t HIS medium. Newt is a walking library with a professor that interpret the material to boot. Perry will NEVER do well in debates....he can only hope he doesn’t have to speak too much and that Newt, et. al. will say something to bring heat on themselves. So, it makes Perry look better because another “steps on his poncho.” But Perry will never be a great or even good debater (many great leaders are not). In our media driven society, a candidate must be nimble on their feet or they will be zapped......unless the are a liberal media darling like Mr. Obama the king of teleprompters and rehearsed statements.

Ronald Reagan was a really good debater....but even he doesn’t have Newt’s grasp of facts and ability to analyze unrehearsed.

Now Perry is likeable when he drops the swagger, and that may (will actually) help him in the Southern States like South Carolina.

What really is a question to me is if Santorum may surprize folks and continue to draw social/moral conservatives to himself beyond Iowa. I “think” he will to some degree, but not enough to win the nomination. However, if he and Newt don’t war, I could see them as a good team first to take down Romney & Paul....then to run on the same ticket.

Well, I hate wasting time but I wondered what naps’ problem was, so I went to look.

Simple.

He’s a yankee. Perry is southern.

I’ve been seeing this stuff for 60 years.

Have no idea who his candidate is, as I don’t pay attention when I see his name on the post. But I’d bet it would never be any southerner.

What was Nikki Haley smoking when she endorsed Mittens?

Must have aspirations for a career at the countryclub. Too bad she didn't let the Tea Party know. Could be the next Michael Steele.

I'm glad Perry is staying in, we can use all the conservative voices available. I have a deep uneasy feeling that Santorum will show up with a glass jaw and be history in a few weeks. Therefore, reserving our options is a good thing, since we will still have to settle on the best alternative available. In the end it will be Perry or Newt.

I looked too, a couple of months ago when Cain was peaking. Naps’criticism of Governor Perry was so over the top, it almost seemed personal. His profile said he was active-duty. I thought it was weird for an active-duty military member to post his profile so he would certainly be identifiable to a government agency, and then proceed to criticize a potential commander-in-chief with so much venom. It worried me so I asked him(her) and the response was filled with hatred. I left him alone....until he started demanding Perry get out of the race. He has begun taunting Perry supporters again like a child and then retreating like a wounded animal when challenged. I can’t figure why he even cared with Perry so far down in the polls.
You could be completely right.

Perry blew $6 million for a fifth place Iowa ribbon--billed as his "first" election loss.

Actually that was Perry's second election loss----he did not officially enter the first go-round---the Iowa straw poll---but manipulated the vote from Texas. That was supposed to take a self-assured Perry over the top. Instead he garnered a pitiful 700 write-ins. Michelle Bachmann won with 4000 votes. Perry came stomping into Iowa flashing the victory sign as if he had actually won. In fact...he was the front-runner for a short period of time....until the first debate.

=================================================

How much money does Perry have......who is sending him donations?

Perry entered the prez race with three PACs (that we know of).....teeming with money.

He was raising 2012 money while campaigning for governor, promising trusting Texans he would not run for president if they reelected him....b/c he knew a sitting governor running for president was more credible.

One crony PAC---Make America Great Again---raised $55 million. Probably some of that was used for Perry's ploy to make himself look good early in the Iowa caucuses----saying he had "raised more than any other candidate"----$17 mill.

So there's lots of money standing by.

We'll soon be looking at Perry crowing that his fifth place loss garnered him a huge chunk of "donations."
