DES MOINES, Iowa Republican presidential candidate Ron Pauls views on Israel and Iran have been greatly misunderstood, his son Senator Rand Paul said in a conversation with The Jerusalem Post just hours before Iowans voted in the first caucuses for the GOP nomination Tuesday night.
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who like his father espouses libertarian views, said his fathers positions on the threat of a nuclear Iran are in line with those of Mossad head Tamir Pardo and other prominent Israeli figures, who he suggested has questioned the wisdom of using a military option against Iran.
Pardo was quoted by Haaretz as telling Israels diplomats in a closed-door meeting that a nuclear Iran was not necessarily an existential threat to Israel.
Nobody wants Iran to have nuclear weapons. It would destabilize the Middle East, Rand Paul told the Post following a campaign event in a Des Moines high school, where hundreds of students cheered at his fathers appearance.
And yet, we have to ask, would it be worse to have a preemptive war with Iran or better? Or can we contain them? We contained the Soviet Union, Rand Paul said.

He does? Where did you get that information? I recall a point where he tossed out any number of reasons for that bombing, among those raising the question whether Mossad might have been involved, but his general conclusion was the bombing did not take place without a motive.
The people who planned and committed the offense were foreigners, no? Besides, it is not unheard of for troublemakers to do this little thing called "Reichstag," so tossing out the question is neither intellectually nor historically invalid.
I think if pressed on the matter, Ron Paul would not flat out assert that Mossad planned and executed the bombing. I say that because I've investigated his words and their context, being interested in facts rather than hyperbole. Of course I would be willing to consider differently if there evidence to the contrary on this particular point, namely some occasion where Ron Paul flat out says this is what he thinks. Then it would be up to him to provide the evidence, and that might prove just a tad dangerous, no?
Best to you! I've read lots of your posts and enjoy your feisty defense of what is right and good for the country we are blessed to inhabit. I hope you'll forgive me for checking into Ron Paul's ideas more closely, as on the face of things it has been difficult to find fault with them, despite all the hooting and howling that attends to his mention.
we should care becuse Almighty God has made a promise in Genesis 12:1-3 (NASB Emphasis added:
Now the LORD said to Abram, Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your fathers house, To the land which I will show you;
And I will make YOU a GREAT NATION, And I WILL BLESS YOU, And make your name GREAT; And so YOU SHALL BE A BLESSING;
And I WILL BLESS THOSE WHO BLESS YOU, And THE ONE WHO CURSES YOU I W I L L C U R S E. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.
America had best continue to bless and side with Israel, "the apple of God's eye", otherwise Almighty God will curse us.
17 trillion dollars is nothing to God. He has the power to deliver us should he choose to do so. But given America's bent toward evil, will He is anyone's guess.
Yeah we had less debt but we also spent less per year, but you know go ahead print up more money see how far that will get you and how much less a threat we will face as a result of it.
I agree with some of Paul’s economic views, some of them actually make sense, but I cannot vote for someone who hates Israel, just can’t do it. Yes that is exactly what I was referring to, that he would actually come up with the idea that Mossad would target Americans, is beyond insane. I appreciate your posts as well. I just dont think that Paul has any chance in the general election. Even Dick Morris said that Paul is even more far left then Obama(If that is even possible)
I hope you watched him tonight. I woudn’t trust that guy to watch my kids let alone run my country.
Here is what I *think* a Zionist is: Someone who will go to any expense/effort to prevent anyone other than a Jew to reside in territories currently defined as the State of Israel. I welcome any correction you or the reader might offer. Suspect there will be some divergence of opinions/defiintions on this one. So what?
As for the girl holding that sign, she looks like she might need some edjamacation, too. Thanks in advance, and regards.
I rephrase: watching my kids is much more important than the job Ron Paul is trying out for. I wouldn’t trust him to bag my groceries. The worst part about Ron Paul supporters is that they don’t realize they are voting for Obama.
“We contained the Soviet Union”...
Sure, with bases and bombers surrounding them. The Ron Paul plan closes most of the foreign bases, right? I like the guy but you can’t have it both ways.
As I recall, it was someone else who spawned the suggestion, and Ron Paul added it to the mix. Here is a concern: both Israel and the USA are likely under the influence of people beyond our control who use $$$ to get more $$$ by creating chaos. Mob influence reaches high in our country. Big bucks. Mammon. Popularity. Power. I don't think it's much different for Israel. The older I get, the less I trust power in high places, no matter what country they're from. Look how Eric Holder's tenure is panning out. Should we think he's not on the take?
On the face of things Paul is left of Obama, but there is a quintessential difference, namely power vested in the State vs. power vested in the individual. As conservatives we both know this. Ron Paul articulates most clearly what attends to individual liberty and responsibility. It should come as no surprise that, to the extent folks make government their god, they cry out, "KOOK!" when confronted with the legal implications of being responsible for their actions as free individuals. There is a highly legitimate purpose for government as a means to civility and stability, for which we are bound to praise Christ Jesus. But there are also boundaries when it comes to good government, just as we've set up boundaries within which to practice it while we live this short life.
But please do not let this prevent you from carrying on as you were/are. I am happy and proud to have you next to me here, along with a good many who draw back from Ron Paul for reasons of their own.
If he were the checker, I'd look for another line.
So glad to hear you love and care for your children. God bless you, and them, your family, and all. May we together enjoy strong, peacable, prosperous, stable, and blessed times in our land.
Shove it Rand, we understand completely your father’s feelings about the Jews and Israel...
We've reached the point technologically where that may not be necessary. We've reached the point economically where camping our soliders in 700 places around the world is a kookier notion than Ron Paul who, by the way, knows a little about circumcision.
Speak for yourself, please, unless you happen to be the Almighty. In that case I'll defer and beg your pardon.
I was begging your pardon in case I was dealing with someone who completely understands something. Knowing that not to be the case, please allow me to enjoy my sarcasm while you enjoy yours. Or would you like to spread the guilt around instead?
