I thought it was repealed?
Communism at its core.
LLS
I thought it was repealed too. But, stores were suppose to start pulling 100W incandecents off of shelves yesterday. (supposedly).
If any of you would like to buy some 100W incandecent bulbs for $1.25 a peice, I might know a guy.... :o)
House GOP Delays Light Bulb Ban Until October
http://news.yahoo.com/house-gop-delays-light-bulb-ban-until-october-123005582.html
Republicans reached a deal to postpone until October enforcement of energy standards that many fear will be the end of 100-watt bulbs and fill stores with more expensive curlicue fluorescents.
> Didn’t Congress pass a bill to cut off money for this stupid law?
It’s like Obamacare. The DemocRATs will ignore the repeal like it never happened.
Yep. When the rolling blackouts hit from the EPA shut down coal-fired power plants, we'll use a bunch less.
Morons abound in Government.
Why have the enviro-weenies looked the other way on these mercury filled pollutants?
I thought LED’s would have replaced standard light bulbs by now ayway, without the phony environmentalists pushing them down our throats. They last longer, take less electricity, and aren’t that expensive. Tungsten filiments are starting to seem archaic, like the old vacuum tube.
They did, but still some producers would have to continue producing the 100W incandescent for that bill to have any practical effect. Producers are already geared up to produce the new bulbs and it's not clear if any would or could continue producing the old ones.
Crony Capitalism through the back door.
The government has eliminated competition for manufacturers of CFLs like General Electric.
No more of those inefficient incandescents for 25¢ a pop. - Now we will be forced to spent 10 or 20 times as much for an inferior product.
And let's not forget - this leftist policy was proposed by a republican and signed into law by George "Dubya" Bush.
I thought it was repealed?
Nope. Not repealed. The law is still in effect.
In the current budget bill Congress did cut off money to the Energy Department to enforce the law.
But that would only stop the federal government from spending money to enforce the ban on manufacturing and selling new 100 watt incandescents until the next budget is passed.
The effort is meaningless; too little too late. Because the manufacturing plants have already shut down production of the 100 watt bulb. And they certainly won't go through the expense of restarting production with the law still in effect.
The bans started this month with the 100-watt bulbs. Then in 2013 the 75-watt bulb will be banned, and in 2014 the 40 and 60 watt bulbs are banned.
We stayed in a house in southeastern Colorado for two weeks during the holidays. All their bulbs were those ridiculous screw tail ones. Lighting was worse than horrible. Had I known I would have taken some from my stash and replaced them all. Did take my own salt shaker for which I was thankful.
Yes, it already be replaced! The LED light is the future. You can google the news “ GE Lighting stop producing saving energy light/CFL” (http://www.fastcodesign.com/3056104/ge-lighting-plans-to-stop-cfl-bulb-production-by-years-end Or https://www.apollolumens.com).
