Beginning in 2012, common light bulbs sold in the U.S. will typically use about 25% to 80% less energy. Many bulbs meet these new standards, including incandescents, CFLs, and LEDs, and are already available for purchase today. The newer bulbs provide a wide range of choices in color and brightness, and many of them will last much longer than traditional light bulbs. The lighting standards, which phase in from 2012-2014, do not ban incandescent or any specific bulb type; they say that bulbs need to use about 25% less energy. The bipartisan Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA 2007) established these efficiency standards.

I thought it was repealed too. But, stores were suppose to start pulling 100W incandecents off of shelves yesterday. (supposedly).
If any of you would like to buy some 100W incandecent bulbs for $1.25 a peice, I might know a guy.... :o)

Republicans reached a deal to postpone until October enforcement of energy standards that many fear will be the end of 100-watt bulbs and fill stores with more expensive curlicue fluorescents.

Rep. Fred Upton, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said the light bulb delay shows Congress is listening to the American people. “We heard the message loud and clear,” said Upton, R-Mich. “Americans don’t want government standards determining how they light their homes.” Upton said he was not opposed to the more efficient – and expensive- curlicue fluorescents that have become increasingly familiar in recent years. But he said government should not penalize those who prefer traditional, incandescent bulbs. “New lighting options are great news for the public, but the lesson is that markets and consumer demand are the best drivers of innovation and new choices,” Upton said.

They (1000bulbs in Texas) do a great job on my orders & delivery.
I thought LED’s would have replaced standard light bulbs by now ayway, without the phony environmentalists pushing them down our throats. They last longer, take less electricity, and aren’t that expensive. Tungsten filiments are starting to seem archaic, like the old vacuum tube.

Can you point me to a LED 100 Watt incandescent light output equivalent for under $50?
They did, but still some producers would have to continue producing the 100W incandescent for that bill to have any practical effect. Producers are already geared up to produce the new bulbs and it's not clear if any would or could continue producing the old ones.
This type of light also needs to function on a dimmer switch.

Well, considering that you almost never have to replace them, I’m thinking that they could actually be cheaper. Especially considering the much less electricity they use. It’s not cheap here, by the way, for one reason or another.
The problem with the spiral bulbs is that some of our lamp shades are the kind that slip onto the bulb and they will NOT work with the spiral bulb. :(
