Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
OK, just read the Burlington Iowa results more closely. Only 96 people voted. It’s a heavily Democratic county. What this may show, however, is that Santorum can reach traditional blue collar voters — the old Reagan Democrats he built his base on in Pennsylvania.
Nope.
People who want to have sex and use recreational drugs can already do that. They have been doing that ever since the 1960s.
Nice to see Perry doing so bad. Who will you people support once he runs out of money and drops out?
On Cavuto, the old hack, Alan Simpson is bashing Santorum for being “too religious” and not recognizing the benefits of that good old “medical procedure,” partial birth abortion.
As they open these slips of paper and read them on C-Span, it just occurs to me, just like 4 years ago, too many conservatives in the race against one moderate liberal and then a shill of a candidate Ron Paul. Conservatives should have coalesced around one stalking horse and let him go head to head with Romney to knock this guy out for good. But too much pride and too much “**I** want to be president. As a result a Moderate may well get this nomination due to a split in the Conservative vote. The Conservatives who did not do well tonight had better just get the heck out and throw in the towel, for the Republic, for our future.
COOL! Who needs FAUX when we have each other on FR and the entire internet, and CSPAN LIVE coverage! Happy Empiring tonight!
There always has been, is now and always will be a dominant world military power. Just what county or group would you like to see be that power?
WEIRD RESULTS:
Ron Paul is keeping Santorum from getting a plurality of the Evangelical vote...BUT
Ron Pual is ALSO keeping Romney from getting a large enough plurality in East and West IA.
The result? A three-way for first.
Strange. No clue who’s going to win it. Santorum is holding is own in Cedar Rapids and Davenport.
Don’t worry. CainCon has been predicting that Perry will drop out from the day he declared.
Hope Perry does better than expected but he WILL NOT drop out. He’s lookin’ to South Carolina now.
What happened to Michele Thatcher?
I am 100% for Newt. Perry would be my 2nd choice. I have problems with Santorum over his support for the bridge to nowhere, he is mr earmarks, supported Arlen Spector and lost the election in PA by a landslide. I am more of a fiscal conservative than social conservative.

Megyn Kelly is the one who drives me crazy the most. She tries to sound knowledgeable on a given topic, but she’s not. I hate to say it, but she gives the term “dumb blonde” more ammunition. Neil Cavuto is the last Fox host who seems to have his/her head on straight. All the rest are in the tank for Romney, our famous Mormon cultist.
I hope Newt goes directly to South Carolina and Florida!
Yes, he has to spend a little time in New Hampshire due to the endorsement by the Manchester Union Leader, but were I Gingrich, I would spend my time and money in SC and FL.
Romney is a fraud and Newt will go after him in the nest debate(s).
