Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
...sigh... Nope. Just not going to do it. Not tonight. Some other time, perhaps.
What are you listening to? Far from boring... maybe you have a tin ear.
Kossuth, Hardin, Appanoose, Hamilton, places with vote still out. Not sure how much left though. It’s razor close. Moot point. Romney can’t claim victory even if he’s on top. It was weak for him. Looks like he’ll fail to get his vote total from 2008.
I know ...
He’s making a great speech now, and I loved how
he tenderly thanked, hugged and kissed his lovely
wife, and then thanked God for His grace.
Santorum’s grit and daily grind sure bode him well
when you saw the map of IA and all the counties
he covered .. and I think Brett said 80% of the
them went for RS. I could be wrong about that, but
his hard work, good old shoe leather made this
possible, I’m sure.
As he said when he began: GAME ON!
Life is a harsh mistress.
Romney is McCain but without the war hero past.
I’m a wizard. :p
7 Precincts left in Harrison, 1 in Keokuk, 1 in Hancock, 1 in Crawford, 1 in Appanoose
have you ever heard a good victory speech? It should be a rousing speech that builds excitement...this is not doing it.
Santorum’s upside far exceeds Mitt.
There should have been international monitors watching the people that opened the envelopes.
Faux News will portray this as an historic night for their
favorite liberal. Santorum will barely be mentioned
tomorrow.
Get ready to hear over and over that Willard the liberal
can not be beat now and that no one has ever taken
Iowa and NH before.
Get ready to throw up. The only way to keep from
throwing up is not subscribe to Faux News. Faux News
will not mention that 75% of republicans despise this piece of human excrement.
Now, we all have to go to work. We have won a battle but not the war....yet.
I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. You’re right! Willard Romney the open socialist will rig the votes every bit as much as Obama would. I think I’m calling it a night after Rick’s speech is over.
Somebody earlier said it best when they said Santorum has won even if he technically lost.
Good, it’ll help him kneecap Romney.
Ridiculous!
I hope that the donations POUR IN for Rick now and we can get momentum going!!! We need a MORAL CHANGE in this country as well as FISCAL and NATIONAL SECURITY!!!
Agree with that. He is also a cry baby. If he thinks Romney treated him badly, imagine what Obama and his billion dollar propaganda machine will do to him. Newt is not a very likeable fellow.
If Perry withdraws from the race, it will be Americas loss.
He would be a credit to the office of the President of the United States. “ <<<
Rick Perry withdrawing will be America’s loss, no doubt about it. They didn’t know him like we did. Now that they do, its really too late. He had to go too long without doubling that early great money, and he is gracious when dealing with reality. Always has been.
Yes! You’re right about that. I hope Perry sticks it to Rove and to BOR also.
