LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Thousands of dead blackbirds rained down on a town in central Arkansas last New Year's Eve after revelers set off fireworks that spooked them from their roost, and officials were reporting a similar occurrence Saturday as 2012 approached.

I know I read a few years ago there were so many starlings or blackbirds people put some kind of chemical in their tree roost that removed oils from the feathers and they would freeze to death and also made it hard to fly.

This has been going on for quite a while.

There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. Because of this the land mourns, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the fish of the sea are dying. [Hosea 4:1-3]

"I will sweep away both men and animals; I will sweep away the birds of the air and the fish of the sea. The wicked will have only heaps of rubble when I cut off man from the face of the earth," declares the LORD. [Zephaniah 1:3]

Bali News: Dead Fish on a Bali Mountaintop - June 19, 2011- A unusual natural phenomenon is causing concern for communities living around the edge of Bali’s Lake Batur at Kintamani. On Sunday, June 19, 2011, the waters of the lake that sits in a volcanioc crater suddenly changed colors to a whitish-blue shade followed by the sudden death of thousands of fish (tilapia) living in the lake. According to NusaBali, villagers for the lakeside community of Lintang Danu recount that the lake suddenly changed color on Sunday (June 19) morning in the areas surrounding the villages of Songan. Batur, Kedisan and Buahan. Shortly after the color change, thousands of freshwater fish floated to the surface and begin washing up on the lake’s shore. Fish farmed by villages in the shallows of the lake also died with the changing color of the lake."

June 20, 2011: “U.S. authorities are investigating what could be killing hundreds of fish and other marine animals - including sharks and manatees - which in recent days have been washing up on beaches in southwestern Florida. "High temperatures and cloudy, rainy days can spell trouble for fish in Florida's marine and freshwater habitats. These conditions can cause fish kills, which are natural occurrences that typically do not cause permanent damage to the ecosystem or to fish populations," the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said. Even so, the FWC asked in a news release for cooperation from the public in monitoring the deaths of the marine life and determining if the phenomenon is spreading to natural lakes and estuaries in the area "to see if there are problems developing in an ecosystem that might require investigation or restorative measures." The bodies of the dead animals - which include eels, crabs, rays, trout, tortoises and various kinds of tropical fish - have been turning up in recent days on several Florida beaches, among them the one at Naples, which is considered to be among the most beautiful in the United States with 16 kilometers (10 miles) of sand and crystalline waters close to shore.”

Aug. 11, 2011 (Broken Arrow, OK) -- It was a bit of a mystery as hundreds of birds were found dead yesterday in the Oklahoma town of Broken Arrow. Tulsa County and state experts say severe weather is to blame. Officials speculate lightning and thunder scared the birds out of the trees, causing them to either fly or be blown back into trees and buildings.

Aug. 14, 2011 "Pearl River fish kill puts fear in residents" “For the past few days a surge of dead fish has been the scene for folks living along the Pearl River. Residents in Picayune have also been effected by the scare. For families like the Mitchells, living along the Pearl River isn't just beautiful scenery, it's a complete way of life. "We feed our families three times a week from these rivers. Whether it be frogs, fish, the wildlife that we hunt during the Winter it's a big portion of our meat for the year," said Mitchell. But now that way of life is in question and to make matters worse, there's no explanation for the problem. "I've been out here 59 years and I've never seen nothing like this. I've seen a fish kill before, but nothing like this," said Picayune resident Dan Taylor. Floating on top of the discolored water you'll find everything from various species of fish, eels, muscles and even snakes. Mitchell said, whatever is going on it's wiping out life in the river.”

Oct. 14, 2011, "BROWNSVILLE — Dead fish, disoriented birds, and discolored water are signaling the Texas coast's largest red tide bloom in a decade, with concentrations of the Karenia brevis organism appearing in patches from Galveston down to South Padre Island. We haven't had a red tide affect this much of the coast since 2000,” said Meridith Byrd, a red tide biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife. “This is a big one.” Blooms of toxic algae occur around the world, but the Karenia brevis species, with its distinctive red nucleus, is unique to the Gulf of Mexico. It's always present, but tends to thrive along shorelines in autumn, after months of hot, dry weather have increased salinity and nutrient levels. The blooms typically start offshore and are carried toward beaches by winds and currents."

October 16, 2011 Thousands of dead fish have washed ashore on a small stretch of shore from Englewood Beach to Stump Pass due to a red tide bloom. Ocean currents are shifting again and most of the dead fish — along with the red tide bloom that killed them — will be heading away from Sarasota County.A red tide bloom — caused by toxic algae — is lingering offshore from Englewood south to Sanibel Island. The bloom is forecast to move to the southeast over the weekend and could get pushed out to sea by Sunday or Monday, said Jason Lenes, a research associate with the Center for Prediction of Red Tides at the University of South Florida.

Oct. 18, 2011: MIDLAND – Botulism is the likely killer of hundreds of birds and fish found washed up on the shores of Georgian Bay from Collingwood all the way to Parry Sound, says the Ministry of Natural Resources. “The cause of the die-off is unknown,” the ministry stated in a press release, “but botulism is typically the cause of this type of occurrence.” The first reported die-off came Aug. 22 in southeastern Georgian Bay, when the ministry was notified of the unexplained deaths of eight lake sturgeons and one carp. Sporadic reports were received in the following weeks, but the number and distribution increased recently."

Ocean Forest Resort Hotel Security Guard Brandon Nelson said between 30 and 40 birds of various breeds fell from the sky around 2 Sunday morning while he was patrolling the building. November 7, 2011 “A massive die-off of oysters in the Chesapeake is placing livelihoods on the brink. Alex DeMetrick reports some watermen are already calling it quits. Every oyster season will turn up empty shells and dead oysters, but this year was worse than normal. “Some of the bars were 100 percent dead. We didn’t find a live oyster at all,” said waterman Barry Sweitzer. Watermen say the Chesapeake north of the bay has become an oyster graveyard. They blame the massive runoff from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, which brought debris and a flood of fresh water, which kills oysters.”

November 8, 2011: “Dead fish found floating in waterbodies in Salt Lake and Sector V has alarmed city environmentalists. Recently, Peoples' Green Society, a green NGO, noticed several fish dying on the small waterbodies off Sector V. A few other NGOs also noticed it.” “Pollution of waterbodies with even hazardous waste thrown in them is the key factor behind this alarming phenomenon. Tonnes of waste generated by Sector V's umpteen roadside food stalls is dumped into these waterbodies. There is a large bheri beside SDF building near which several roadside eateries operate. Plastic and paper waste lie scattered over the entire ground just beside the bheri, polluting its water. Local fishermen said the number of fish has declined over the years. "Fish die in quite large numbers when filthy water from the city enters these waterbodies through canals," said Nitai Mandal, a local fisherman.”

Mark McMillan says he started noticing changes in his catches a few months ago.November 9, 2011-“An unprecedented number of fish with red spots, lesions and parasites, as well as dead dugongs and turtles, have been found this year. Fishermen and conservationists blame the state of the marine life on dredging to widen Gladstone Harbor to accommodate carrier ships servicing the booming liquefied natural gas and coal seam gas industries. But the Gladstone Port Corporation does not believe the dredging is causing the disease in fish, and authorities say last year's wet summer may be a factor in the poor health of the harbor.”

The verse you quote it seems that BOTH man and animals are swept away at the same time.

I would say when the “judgement” occurs, you won’t have to scour papers to get reports. It will be so bad men will want to hide under rocks.

2012 is NOT a biblically significant year. It’s a Mayan long-count year (end of cycle). We will have a whole YEAR of hype after which, at the end 0f 2012, nothing will happen.

How do I know this? Because the end will come as a thief in the night, and in the last days there will be scoffers..... the best way to have a bunch of scoffers and catch everybody unawares is to have a bunch of kooky “end of the world” prophecies that do not come to pass....we are seeing those more frequently now. We had it in Y2K.

Which part of the Hosea Scripture says anything about man?

2012 is NOT a biblically significant year

You have no way of knowing what 2012 will bring, and there are credible Bible prophecy scholars who know the word of God and who disagree with you.

It’s a Mayan long-count year (end of cycle).

Godless, pagan predictions are totally and completely worthless and irrelevant. The only words of prophecy which have a record of being one hundred percent correct down to the smallest detail are the prophecies written by God. All other "prophecies" are a joke.

We will have a whole YEAR of hype after which, at the end 0f 2012, nothing will happen.

Again, as a limited, finite, created being, you have absolutely no way of knowing what will happen five minutes from now, never mind what will happen over the next year.

How do I know this? Because the end will come as a thief in the night, and in the last days there will be scoffers..... the best way to have a bunch of scoffers and catch everybody unawares is to have a bunch of kooky “end of the world” prophecies that do not come to pass....we are seeing those more frequently now. Produce the Scripture which talks about Y2K and you may have a valid point. Since you can't do it, I'll leave you with this:

Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning. 36Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. 37And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. (Matthew 13:35-37)

So likewise you, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. (Matthew 24:33)

You watch the Mayan calendar and I'll obey Jesus Christ. I think I know who will come out ahead.

So all I have to do is prophecy that the end is coming every day to keep it from coming?

The time is already set whether or not any one else says it's that time.

You're really gonna feel silly if it DOES come on 12/21/2012.

do you buy into the mayan hype?

How could God honor a group of priests who sacrificed untold number on the pyramids to the serpent god? Not to mention eating them.
