I met some illegal Mexicans last night at a party. Several years ago I stayed with a couple of wonderful Mexican families in the Baja below California. These were well-off people. The homes, on average were beautifully tiled and some of them had mahogany inlaid walls, bookshelves and cabinetry that would cost a hundred-thousand dollars here. So, Im guessing if they arent rich theyre very comfortable. The elderly not as well-off grandfather, while living in Mexico was receiving Social Security from the United States and owned a rent-free apartment in California which he used as his address to receive several forms of assistance checks from Californian agencies. He visited the apartment once a week to re-arrange things and make it looked lived in. He had a car, a Toyota Corolla that looked quite nice and had working air-conditioning. I gathered it was supplied as some form of assistance and he generally left it in California at the apartment. The apartment was about 1100 square feet and very livable. The grandfather told me most of entire complex, easily a 1000 units, were like him, on Californian assistance, but actually living in Mexico.
At the party were a couple of teenage boys from this family. Very nice kids. Id be proud to have them as my own; diligent, hard working, trouble-free and much more adult than youd expect from that age. They told me that theyd decided to go to high school in California instead of Mexico. They said that the (California) government gave them an apartment and they travel back to Mexico on the weekends. (I dont know if theyre staying alone or if a family member is staying with them, but if I had to guess, they came alone.)
When I posted information on this family last time, Freepers angrily asked why I hadnt reported them. Firstly, I was a well-treated guest. Secondly, this must be obvious to the casual observer. Even if I knew who to report it to in California, which I dont, it is obvious that this is how its done. These people are only taking advantage of benefits put there for them. Not to avail themselves of these benefits would be like deciding not to take candy freely offered to you.
>>Firstly, I was a well-treated guest.<<
Dude, I can roll with the rest of your post, but this part is unbelievable.
So if you were a well-treated guest, and your host picked up a knife and slashed his family to death, would you just smile and walk out the door? You were well-treated, afterall.
Amen.
I have a nephew with four kids, a wife and two jobs.
He makes 35,000 a year. They turn down all aid, including free breakfasts and lunches.
Lots of candy has been offered to them.
VERY WELL SAID!
My sister’s wife’s father who is 75-80 years old came over from India less than five years ago. He’d never spent a day in this country but now receives free medical care and SSI. UNFRICKINGBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this legal?
It's probably risky to put anything past California when it comes to illegals, but that arrangement sounds pretty implausible. An apartment for teenagers? It'd be interesting to know just what sort of circumstances led to these government paid benefits you describe.
You should! State AID is your money, if you are tax payer. The only way you can get your own money back from state is to claim some benefits, obviously legally.
Not paying taxes is not an option, but you can do the next best thing and get the benefits of them totally legit.
Here’s a simple solution;
No E-Verify, no workee
No E-Verify, no public assistance
Not perfect, but a good start.
The insanity that the rest of the taxpayers and their children in the U.S. will be paying for when this state goes belly-up and has to be bailed out while leaving all of its dysfunctional welfare programs intact.
Watch!
Free candy that they *are not* actually entitled to... That’s the main point.
And the well-treated guest gets to pay for it.
Does anyone believe the California state government would do ANYTHING about this? The folks in Sacramento WANT people like this living in their state, receiving money taken from hard-working citizens.
Its slavery.
This is the norm for immigrants, even legal ones. Don’t worry, this all is going to come crashing down on US. Our unfunded liabilities are now over 100 trillion dollars if you count SS, Medicare, Medicaid and the rest. I don’t see our GNP of about $15 Trillion going anywhere but down if you adjust for inflation. We, as a sovereign, free nation are done.
“Not perfect, but a good start.”
Si.
I mean, Yer dern tootin’.
Happy Sunday.
Your whaaaaat?
Did you get tripped up or is that for real?
Yep. Go to any major airport in the U.S., go to the international terminal and watch all the elderly in wheel chairs, mostly from the Mideast and Asia, pouring in to “visit” and get free medical care and SSI. Hundreds a month are pouring in and have been for the past 10-20 years. Don’t believe me, go to the airport and watch. Adding to the sinking U.S. lifeboat....pathetic. Compliments of the U.S. taxpayer. Suckers.
If your sister has a wife...
This is from a thread yesterday on some of California's new laws that take effect TODAY:
While Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Georgia will implement the highly successful E-Verify program to ascertain ones social security number to verify employment eligibility, California bucks the tide, thumbs its nose at the law, and, effective January 1, prohibits private employers in the State from utilizing the E-Verify system. This side stepping of the law impacts California workers who follow the rules and is a major reason the States unemployment rate is the one of the highest in the nation, exceeding 12%.
I see no light at the end of the tunnel for the future of California.
And I'm not shedding any tears for the state either...
Your sister has a wife?
Taking candy is one thing. Taking money (candy) from people who are legal is another. The first sentence includes the word illegal. The last sentence includes the word candy. The remainder of the three paragraphs discusses what the rewards have been. Conclusion reached is illegal likes candy when a legal provides, and justification is rewards, fully legal. Excuse me ... this has made me ill, even though known to me was taking place.
