Newt Gingrich, plunging in the polls, dropped this bomb Wednesday: he would consider asking Sarah Palin to serve as his number two or in his Cabinet if he became president.
"She is certainly one of the people you would look at," Gingrich said Wednesday, according to Right Wing Watch, when asked if he would consider tapping the 2008 vice presidential nominee for a second try.
"I am a great admirer of hers and she was a remarkable reform governor of Alaska, she's somebody who I think brings a great deal to the possibility of helping in government and that would be one of the possibilities," Gingrich said at Ralph Reed's Faith and Freedom Coalition.
And if he did not pick her for his running mate and he defeated President Obama in the November general election, he would consider putting her in the Cabinet, the site reports.
"There are also some very important Cabinet positions that she could fill very, very well. I can't imagine anybody who would do a better job of driving us to an energy solution than Gov. Palin, for example. Tell her that she would certainly be on the list of one of the people we would consider," the former House speaker said.
Arizona Sen. John McCain, the former Republican nominee for president, tapped Palin in his 2008 bid for the White House in an effort to energize many conservative voters skeptical of McCain's credentials. Former McCain aide Steve Schmidt, who was instrumental in the Palin pick, later came to regret the decision.
CBS News contributor Scott Conroy reported last month that Gingrich is most likely to get Palin's endorsement if she decides to officially back anyone before the nomination is wrapped up.
Palin and her husband Todd "speak very favorably of Newt and what they see as his credentials as compared to Perry and Romney," one member of

I’d rather have a more conservative Perry as the front runner for the race, but Gingrich does have good election strategy.

TLC offered her a second season and she turned them down.
Sarah Palin Negotiating Season 2 of Hit Reality Show
Sarah nixed it because it would have been in production when she was considering running.
Btw, The Daily Mail is a gossip rag. I trust them like I trust CNN and MSNBC.

Maybe more than a ploy or gimmick on his part. Remember this? Thanks for the reminder, GW. I needed to hear that. I'd completely forgotten that Newt was one of the few national league Republicans who ever came to Sarah's defense.

Happy New Year! It's almost here!
Newt Gingrich also suggested Governor Susunna Martinez, New Mexico, for VP during the Q & A segment of his Townhall on CSPAN.

Yes I remember that and some may remember Newt's interview with Greta after one of the debates. After Greta asked her first question, Newt stopped her and said before he answered her question, he wanted to let everyone know about Sarah's great Sept 3 (?) speech. He said EVER American should read her speech and he said he was going to tweet out a link to her speech the next day.....which he did. He has on other occasions, given Sarah credit and has complimented her, and he has talked about her serving in his administration, should he win.
The spin and lies from those supporting other candidates is getting a little old. Time to take this election seriously. Actually it is long past the time. Should Obama or Romney win the election, our country is done.

Newt came out hard in defense of Sarah Palin was she was named VP. He tore the reporter apart for questioning her credentials by hammering out a list of Sarah's accomplishments and juxtaposing it against Obama's LACK of accomplishments.
Left the LSM reporter dumbfounded.

I can still hope can't I, LOL. The Vice-Presidency, under Gingrich, is likely to carry even less weight than Joe Biden's.
Gingrich's executive history (i.e., when he ran the House) is not that of a delegator and enabler of his subordinates.
Gingrich's VP would have little power and even less authority. Thus, not in a position to make any kind of difference in any kind of policy matter.
In other words, it would be a job to stand well clear of for anybody with any future ambition.

I’m not too sure about that. I think Newt the leader and historian, will get to work from day one instituting a revolution much like Reagan’s and he will want a strong VP to help him carry it out, unlike the weak VP Reagan had.

I hope you're right. But his history suggests otherwise.
Newt's an idea guy -- not an executive/manager sort.
That's OK -- IF he recognizes it and adjusts his staff and support group accordingly.
