DES MOINES — His financially strapped campaign unable to buy much advertising of their own, Newt Gingrich‘s well-funded allies are coming to his rescue in Iowa, securing large chunks of airtime across the state.

Newsmax, the conservative magazine and Web site, will show a 30-minute special on Mr. Gingrich throughout the weekend in all of Iowa’s major television markets. The program is hosted by Michael Reagan, son of the former president, and makes the case that Mr. Gingrich is the strongest candidate to carry forward Ronald Reagan‘s legacy.

“We are featuring a person that we believe will help continue my father’s vision,” Mr. Reagan says. “A man who believes that President Obama‘s vision for America is a dangerous one, and must be stopped and reversed. That person is Newt Gingrich.”

A second major player in conservative circles, Liberty University, the evangelical institution founded by Jerry Falwell, is also giving Mr. Gingrich a boost in Iowa, running 30-second commercials in which Mr. Gingrich extols the virtues of a Liberty education.

Mr. Ruddy said the special would run 200 times over the weekend in all of Iowa’s major media markets, including on stations in Omaha and South Dakota, which reach into parts of the Hawkeye State.

Every little bit helps...

Actually, they now are in the double-digit millions, and the Pro-Newt PACs are over twenty million in the black.

He USED to be cash-strapped, but not any more.

How do you get past this one? Gingrich has a load of weird crap.

Newt's first wife, Jackie Battley was his high school geometry teacher. He started"seeing" her when he was 16-18 years old. When he was eighteen and she was twenty-five. Marianne Gingrich said he was just 16 when he started with her.

Do you just not think about this stuff?

What a wonderful ad. He is the “Superman” to save the country. He is so superior to Romney and the rest. All supporters, go to newt.org and contribute.

That is old news. I made a donation to Newts campaign two days ago so Newt is now well past that mark. GO NEWT!

That was about 50 years ago. Pretty much a lifetime ago. I did stupid stuff between the age of 16-18 too. Probably most people over the age of 18 can relate to doing stupid things when they were 16-18 that they regret.

“How do you get past this one? Gingrich has a load of weird crap.

If this DID have some bearing on his ability to perform his duties, I’m pretty sure RR would have been aware befroe he stomped the Dems.

If YOU think about it for a minute, isn’t this relationship more a statement about the WOMAN’S character? After all, if it is true, she was guilty of statutory rape. Or is it OK when women do it?

Your message is all kinds of weird. What’s to get past? If that happened to a woman you would admire her for overcoming the rape. Ack.

leaving at 5 a.m. for parts unnamed in western NH ... preparing the ground for Newt’s visits last next week. People up there are getting excited as we are in the final 11 days.

I figure a 15-hour day should satisfy the political urge for the weekend.
