Matt Romney may not want to count on inheriting his dad's millions.
Mitt Romney's son stole a bit of the news cycle on Friday after he joked to a group of seniors in New Hampshire that his dad would release his tax records when President Obama released his birth certificate.
"He has not said that he will not do it, he has also not said that he will. I think it's a matter of time until that issue comes up because I think everybody has to get a chance to do that. And so I don't know the answer to that, I'm not sure if he knows the answer to that. But he'll do everything that he needs to," Matt Romney said, according to Patch.com.
"He's certainly not afraid of anything, not hiding anything you know, I heard someone suggest the other day that as soon as Obama releases his grades and birth certificate and sort of a long list of things, then maybe he'd do it. That was just a "
Then, Matt's brother Tagg quickly cut in to say, "That was not my dad saying that."
Matt quickly backtracked saying, "No, no no, that was just a suggestion."
The slip is an especially embarrassing one for the Romney campaign, which has tried to stay above the conspiracy theories in the party that the President was not born in the United States.
The President released a copy of his full-form birth certificate this year after needling about the issue from Donald Trump and other outspoken conservatives.
Romney, as have most mainstream Republicans, has never questioned if the President was born in the United States.
Last week he said he wasnt sure he was going to release his tax forms.

Obama's campaign team was quick to pounce on the slip-up on its Twitter account.
OKay. Make that one less Mittens clone to screw up. Make no mistake. Mittens' decision not to release his tax returns will become a prime time problem for him one way or another.
If the leftist press lies enough does that make it so?
That was no “slip”.
Mitt’s son is seen as the problem here.
The fact that we don’t have Obama’s supporting documents for his birth on U. S. soil is not seen as a problem.
I think it’s a problem for Romney not to have released his tax records. I also find it a problem that we haven’t seen any of a myriad of documentation related to Obama’s life. In fact, he is the biggest enigma we have had as a president, in a time when his motives should be crystal clear.
I’m pleased as punch to talk about Romney. Perhaps we should wait until 2015 or 16 to do so. That seems to be appropriate for Obama.
Mitt Romney's son stole a bit of the news cycle on Friday after he joked to a group of seniors in New Hampshire that his dad would release his tax records when President Obama released his birth certificate.Release your tax records immediately, Willard.
Hey, Barry, I'll trade my tax returns for your grades, straight up!
I think this was intentional.
Mitt gets both sides of the argument and we all hate the gotcha media.
This is a good gaffe! Wish all the candidates’s kids make this kind of gaffe!
Every candidate should make it conditional on soetoro/obama releasing his bona-fide before they release their own - it is only fair!
Shoulda said “College Transcripts”....
MSM didn’t give a damn about bama’s credentials!
Good grief. Like father, like son. A puff of steam has more substance that the ridiculous verbiage in the quote above. YIKES.
I’d settle for John Kerry’s DD 214 at this point. Thank you.
Im pleased as punch to talk about Romney. Perhaps we should wait until 2015 or 16 to do so.No. Let's do it now. Otherwise Willard may become the GOP nominee. If the conservative media or conservative candidates refuse to test the premises of a of a Willard candidacy for the GOP nomination then let the mainstream media do it.
Now that’s something. The son of a politician who is obviously well connected politically makes this kind of comment. Really make me wonder how much of the political world knows Obama is a fraud and how much blackmail is going on.
It would have been better left unsaid, but it is not a major gaff.
How about Obama releasing his college transcripts?
There’s a lot of common sense behind your comment, but we do try to hold our people to a higher standard. I’m not going to sign off on Romney not revealing his tax returns.
If you want to be president, I want to see what you’ve been up to.
Romney should make full disclosure, and then make tons of noise about Obama never being called to make his life’s records public.
The son mentioned Obama’s grades too, but that part of his statement is being stuffed down the memory hole. He would have totally nailed it if he had just said “college transcripts” and left it at that.
