His political career ended the moment he voted for Obozocare. My money says he knew it at the time, too. His vote came at a price... a cushy lobbyist job and other assorted perks after he resigned because he knew he would never get re-elected after voting for that monstrosity. He only held out until he got the deal he wanted for his "retirement."
When this society collapses, I hope people like Nelson spend the rest of their days looking over their shoulders.

Nelson's popularity fell among Nebraskans in the wake of his cloture vote. A December 2009 Rasmussen poll indicated that in a hypothetical NelsonHeineman race, the Republican would get 61% of the vote to Nelson's 30%. In the same poll, 64% of the Nebraska voters surveyed were opposed to the health-care bill.
Enough said. He just didn't want to be embarrassed!

A much more likely scenario, along with "Judas" Sestak. Pretty sure you mean Bart Stupak, but your point is well taken.

Oh, then there was Walter Mondull, but the Wellstone memorial pep rally pretty well sealed his fate.

Nelson has a very important legacy. He proved to the voters of Nebraska (and to the entire nation) that there’s no such thing as a conservative Democrat.

Yes you are correct (sheepish grin).
In my defense, Sestak too is a nominal Catholic but has a 100% approval rating from NARAL, is a leftist, and has a 2 syllable name beginning with “S”. :-)

Nebraskans should throw his a$$ out of Nebraska. Let this jackass retire in Illinois, CA or NY, where he belongs.

There’s two bad “Nelsons” there, NE and FL. People think they are “conservative.”

Ah, yes... the Nuremburg Funerally. They don’t come much more tasteless than that. I can’t believe that scumbag Harkin didn’t go under as a result of that.
