Seven People Found Dead in Dallas-Area Apartment Published December 25, 2011
GRAPEVINE, Texas Seven people believed to be related had opened their Christmas gifts and started cleaning up the wrapping paper when they were shot to death in a suburban Texas apartment, police said Sunday.
Authorities said they believe the shooter is among the dead, but got a warrant before doing a full search on the small chance that it was otherwise.
Four women and three men, aged 18 to 60, were found in an adjoining kitchen and living room area when police entered the apartment around midday, said Police Sgt. Robert Eberling. Two handguns were found near the bodies in the apartment that was decorated for the holiday with a tree, he added.
"It appears they had just celebrated Christmas. They had opened their gifts," Eberling said.
The victims have not yet been identified, but Eberling said it appears they all died of gunshot wounds. He said authorities still don't know what sparked the incident.
Grapevine Police Lt. Todd Dearing said investigators believe that all the victims were related, but that some were only visiting and didn't live in the apartment. He said police are looking for other relatives to inform. "Seven people in one setting in Grapevine, that's never happened before. Ever," Dearing said.
He said police were performing a "meticulous" search of the apartment and he expects them to be on the scene for many hours. Police and firefighters first rushed to the Lincoln Vineyards complex after receiving an open-ended emergency services call at about 11:30 a.m., Eberling said.
"There was an open line. No one was saying anything," he explained. So police went into the apartment, located in a middle-class, suburban neighborhood of Grapevine, not far from the upscale Fort Worth neighborhood of Colleyville.

The story refers to a middle class neighborhood, near an affluent ‘hood, so maybe not minorities. Anglos can go nuts, too! But such a sad story whatever the cause or the race/ethnicity of the victims who were merely enjoying a Christmas holiday.
When you are constantly reminded during the season that you must be jolly, sentimental, and filled with love in your heart for all mankind, it can really get on your nerves.
Or somebody snapped after hearing “The Little Drummer Boy” or “The Twelve Days of Christmas” too many times.
THAT is an adorable picture!!!! Lucky great, great grandmother!!!
THAT is wonderful! Now that truly is a BLESSED Christmas. How many kids today (or ever) spent the holidays with a great grandmother? Speaks really well to your family. Glad you all had a great day.
Merry Christmas! What a great photo!
Its a major part of what Christmas should be about. Things were pretty bare under the tree but it was a good day.
Seems that the poorer we get, the more I like Christmas.
The TV show "The First 48." has one thing in common for almost every case: no one was saying anything..." Almost all cases involved Holder's "people." Ditto the show "Fugitive Task Force."
The news report states: "Jose Fernandez, a 35-year-old heavy equipment mechanic who moved to the complex with his family about six months ago...". This could indicate an area that's in transition. It also adds: "But many of the nearby apartments are vacant...". Again, this points to a once-nice area now in decline with the empty apartments.
The ages (18-60) are also a clue. Here in Texas, the younger people are non-white. Had the ages been 50 and older, that would have been more reflective of a white demographics.
I recall when Grapevine was really a good area. But with the mall and the Gaylord Texan, a number of undesirables have located to that suburb for its low-wage service jobs. And, of course, there are the swarms of illegals -- unfortunately they're everywhere hereabouts.
As as cited elsewhere in this thread, the lack of any mention of race also points to these seven being minorities.
The two firearms were suppressed. http://www.star-telegram.com/2011/12/25/3617979/report-7-found-dead-inside-grapevine.html
I remember Christmas at about that age with 2 of my great grandmothers. Alas my daughter has no grandmothers, let alone greats any more, and only one grandfather.
That’s sweet.
My mother was a teen mom which has its advantages. I grew up seeing my great grandmother pretty much every day till she died when I was in my 30s.
Two handguns “without silencers” were discovered
A United Nations? WTF?
Would not be surprised.
So they were expecting silencers?
Anyone using the term United Nations in a positive light is an utter fool. The UN is a criminal organization, enabling terrorists of all stripes.
Rick Perry rightly asked the question: "Why are we funding that organization?"
