Gingrich would drop federal lawsuit challenging S.C. immigration law

One of Newt Gingrich’s first acts as president, if he is elected, will be to drop all of the Justice Department’s lawsuits against states -- including the federal government’s lawsuit challenging South Carolina’s new immigration law.

“It’s pretty outrageous when the federal government fails to do its job and then attacks the states for trying to fill the gap created by the federal government,” Gingrich said on the back porch of the Blue Marlin in the Vista after speaking to a crowd of about 300 people for about an hour.

Thursday, a federal judge threw out three sections of South Carolina’s new immigration law.

That’s pretty good to come out and say that. I know that would be welcomed by many.

An Obama-appointed ambulance-chasing Black-Robed Priest, if I recall.

But what if some states were to detain President Gingrich’s privileged 25+ year illegal aliens?

**Thursday, a federal judge threw out three sections of South Carolina’s new immigration law.**

Newt is the only candidate who gets the ‘big picture’. In Congress he had to share the brushes with 434 doodlers and the paint with 100 scribbling Senators.

As POTUS he will be Rembrandt on a big canvas.

Newt, He’s got it right. I support him in the face of all the charges, counter charges and comments. this is a move Mittens couldn’t do—not even Perry! Maybe only Sarah Palin would say such a thing. Newt—flawed but right.

All you Newt haters out there better get up to speed on his writings and speeches and pay less attention to the mud that has been flung against your political wall by those who can only survive within the status quo.

He apparently would let the states do what they choose to do - since he only said he “didn’t think Americans would go for deporting” 25 year residents - he never said he would prohibit it.

But, nice try.

Will Newt prosecute this administration and fire all the Democrat appointees who have cost so many American lives?

Newt’s putting out specific executive actions the others haven’t, that’s the only way to roll Obamanation. I think we would survive a Newt presidency.

Indeed - but Obama would not survive a Newt debate if he had to go up against him on issues like this - or Keystone - or the judiciary - etc etc etc.

"That’s pretty good to come out and say that."

Why wouldn't any Republican comit to the same thing?

Newt is the first to say it, but I think it would be a "no-brainer".

I am pretty sure that Mitt would not and not Huntsman either. Not sure about the others. I suspect Perry, Bachmann and Santorum would do agree.

But this is not a “no brainer” in the sense that this would be signing legislation that a congress passes. This is something that a President would have to do offensively - and I’m not sure all of the others understand the dangers of this.

".. better get up to speed on his writings and speeches.."

Some of us have been aware of Newt's speeches and actions for years.

Instead of characterizing us as "Newt haters", why not just "Newt disapprovers"?

...........
Its the local control that is the problem. Some parts of the country would deport everyone. but in some places in the southewest and in scattered counties around the country — there would be counties that didn’t deport anyone.

These would concentrate illegals from other parts of the USA moving toward legalization.

Worse these counties would become gateway counties into the USA from abroad because there would be some that would wave through everyone from abroad.

The result would be to blow a hole in the US border system and rapidly convert places like texas and florida over to the democratic party

That’s why chuck schumer—the most partisan democrat had nice things to say about newt’s immigration plan.
