Flat screen TVs and laptops are always popular gifts at Christmas. But, a different kind of present is triggering people's interest this holiday season. Gun sales are up at outdoor shops around Bakersfield...........
Be careful when you check those stockings by the fireplace this year because there could be a pistol inside. As shoppers crowd into stores these last few days before Christmas looking for that perfect gift, some shoppers are dropping the gift cards and grabbing a Glock.
At Second Amendment Sports, sales have spiked in recent weeks. "We're up 25% from last year," said Jennifer McKenna.

And I only bought three in the last month....
Yule put your eye out, kid.................
Darn....I didn’t get any guns for hubby this Christmas. However, I did get reloading equipment. Does that count?
That means gun sales are right on target.
Sure. I bought hunting/shooting stuff, ammo, renewed my CCW with a training class at one of the store's with a range. Only bought one gun.... a 60's vintage Belgium Hi-Power in excellent condition.

Something odd is happening in my home town. For years there were two large gun stores, and I do mean large. Both had an inventory I would guess at over a thousand guns.
For years both did a good business but I noticed one closed a couple of years ago and now the other is having a closing sale. There was also a small pawn shop which carried guns but it is also closed tho I don’t remember when.
Unless there is one I am not aware of there will no longer be a gun shop there. All this at a time when gun sales are at historic highs.
I get ammo!
An Old Fashion All-American Christmas
We got a lot of ammo at the gun show last weekend. They had some great deals!
Paperwork issues? We lost our gunshop due to an “error” [they claim it was minor] on a form, the first in over a decade.
They were essentially told to hire an extra person to complete and monitor the paperwork compliance or give up their license. They were already operating on a pretty thin margin, so chose to close.
I don’t know what happened to either store tho I have an idea on one. The owner died and the guy who inherited it was not what you would call good at dealing with the public.
Aiieee! A pistol! No doubt harboring evil spirits!
Nominee for stupidest statement of the year!
Aaah, you beat me to it. Still, an incredibly stupid comment by the newsditz.
BATF is wagingd a quiet war against all gun stores but especially small local ones. I’ve known a couple who closed due to minor paperwork issues. Of course the media gives them a pass because they also want an unarmed populace. I don’t know if that’s the case with your stores but it wouldn’t surprise me.
My company recognized my efforts on several projects this year and awarded me a hefty little cash gift on a recent paycheck. Went out and bought a new 1911.
The internet happened.
