U.S. District Judge Richard Berman in Manhattan cited Cameron Douglas' "history of reckless behaviour" as he imposed a new punishment that was more than double what prosecutors were seeking for Douglas' guilty plea to drug charges that arose from his successful efforts to smuggle drugs into prison.
...
The judge also criticized the government for being too lenient on Douglas after he repeatedly violated prison rules by arranging to get drugs. The judge said the violations included four instances in which a lawyer smuggled anti-anxiety prescription drugs into prison for Douglas in her bra. The lawyer entered into a deferred prosecution agreement that enabled the charges against her to be dropped if she stayed out of trouble for six months.

What a waste of a life.
Frisk, anyone?
10 years for drug use? Rapists and murderers do less time than that.
This broad should at the very least be doing a little time for this. Why does this shyster get to skate for smuggling drug into a prison?
The lawyer should definitely be disbarred and put in jail. Instead she got absolutely no punishment.
Please. This is Hollywood. These are democrats. They are victims. Leniency goes with the victims, and so does the press coverage. Now, if it were some conservative schmuck with a name of fame, well then............
Poor Kirk Douglas... the old fellow deserves better than this for a grandson :-(
That said: I don’t think drugs should be illegal, I do think drug users should be held liable for their actions though. I personally could never sell drugs... too much bad karma, it’s just so wrong! I’d never sell tobacco or liquor either and for the same reason.
I feel it is unconstitutional for the fed gov to outlaw drugs, it would be legal for the states to do so however.
What we have now is worse than prohibition was.
To sell or provide drugs to a child would be an unspeakable sin IMO.
WOD is un-winnable and fruitless. What do we get for these efforts except loss of rights and freedoms? If this were Rush, we’d all be screaming about unfair sentencing and a heartless judge, but we’re cheering it on here because it’s a liberal actor’s son.
Arapaio: ICE refusing to take illegal immigrants from MCSO
Snip: MCSO says ICE is refusing to take them.
Let me tell u a story...my tank was hit with a mine..my crew went to get a new one..was riding on the back of a 113 heading to a hedge row..
All hell broke loose..the SGT TC shot his .50 with short bursts..after a few minutes he asked me to take over....he could not handle it..
I replaced him in the cupola..soon I ran out of ammo..place my arm behind my back expecting to get another can of 50.
Nothing..I turned around saw the SGT..huffing on pot. I yelled several times..he gazed at me in a stupor.
I reached for my .45..
OMG!
Like I said, you must be responsible for what you do if you do drugs.... I’d reach for my 1911 too.
The weapon brought him back to reality..he passed me the 50 ammo.
We had a discussion that night..next day he was gone. The guy had a silver star..he was part of C troop 3/4 Cav the unit that saved Saigon during Tet 68.
Never touched the stuff..now Jack Daniels..well that’s another story..
I had a cousin that was sacrificed to the Johnson/McNamara madness.
What a clusterf***
God bless you for your service! :-)
Never saw anything wrong killin..sometimes my 50 barrel got to hot..learned to strap extra barrels on the side of the tank turret.
The ammo sergeant..was amazed the numerous burnt barrels.
This soldier never followed the manuals during war..this was the 50 cal.. Now comes the main gun..a 155mm monster..I burned up loaders like I did 50 barrels..
Today we could never win a major war..the army is to heterogeneous.
Just goes to show that money is no substitute for a father.
One consolation for Michael is he will know where is son is every night for the next 9 years or so.
One consolation for Kirk is he will know where is son is every night for the next 9 years or so.
She should have gotten the same sentence as him.
I don't think so.
