Economist and conservative author Thomas Sowell says voters should disregard Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrichs baggage and support the former House speaker because defeating President Obama in 2012 is crucial to Americas future.
Sowell cites Gingrichs solid record of concrete accomplishments, which he argues makes him a stronger candidate than former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who pushed through one of the liberal healthcare programs in the nation.
...
He concludes: Those who want to concentrate on the baggage in Newt Gingrichs past, rather than on the nations future, should remember what Winston Churchill said: If the past sits in judgment on the present, the future will be lost. If that means a second term for Barack Obama, then it means weve lost, big time.

He's kidding. He's predicting what the anti-Newts were about to say in 5,4,3,2...
Yes take control of the Senate and more gains in the House.
Take our Country back to the right path.
Lets start there. Also fix our education system and stop the Marxists from teaching the next generation of Marxists Ideals under the guise of inclusion such as homosexual rights and moral relativism to defeat us from within.
Hooah
I second that.
Sowell talks common sense.
If Santorum or Bachmann cannot pull an upset in Iowa, then I will fully back Gingrich. Plus I will try my best to convince all who read my blog at the ChicoER to support Newt.
For now however, I am still praying for a real conservative win for us in Iowa via Santorum or Bachmann.
As I said before, I have never ever voted for any abortion supporting candidates in all my life, and I do not plan to in 2012.
So if Romney wins the nomination I will vote for a third party pro life candidate.
Jim Robinson and Thomas Sowell are right about Newt!
I just watched it and I loved it.... Romney is going to learn the definition of regret and Newt is going to teach it to him.
bttt
Please read it again.... it was sarcastic. If you read on, you’ll see I really like and respect the man.
Thank you... somedays I wonder... LOL
I am not sure what Newt would think of it, but I really like that comparison. ;>)
It’s a “political opportunist vs. politcal whore” kinda thing.
I can only figure out who 3/4 of those people are.
Milt “accomplished” RomneyCare, RomneyMarriage and many other things. LOL
I’d take Newt over Romney as well.
I’d take Sowell over Newt.
I wish all these so called conservative pundits, could find a shred of honesty in the attacks against Newt. We are being force fed Romney. They have denegrated every person I liked so Romney can be the “last man standing”.
It seems like he will be the “establishment” candidate, and no others will be permitted entrance to “the dance”.
I thought I trusted some of these pundits, but I’m not so sure any longer.
The people I like seem to have a core belief that was perceptible, I can’t say that about Romney. Again, too slick for my taste.
Friend of a friend who did his makeup for one of the events said he had an ego/attitude that was not very pleasant. I.E. Above all the little people. Don’t need another one like that.
Gingrich, Franklin, Churchill, Grant
I guess Ulysses S. Grant was the tricky one :-)
I am in the Gingrich court. The Media can get bent.
I’ll take a Conservative over Gingrich AND Romney.
I wouldn’t include Grant in that group.
