Jim Robinson and Thomas Sowell are right about Newt!
bttt
I am not sure what Newt would think of it, but I really like that comparison. ;>)
I can only figure out who 3/4 of those people are.
I wish all these so called conservative pundits, could find a shred of honesty in the attacks against Newt. We are being force fed Romney. They have denegrated every person I liked so Romney can be the “last man standing”.
It seems like he will be the “establishment” candidate, and no others will be permitted entrance to “the dance”.
I thought I trusted some of these pundits, but I’m not so sure any longer.
The people I like seem to have a core belief that was perceptible, I can’t say that about Romney. Again, too slick for my taste.
Friend of a friend who did his makeup for one of the events said he had an ego/attitude that was not very pleasant. I.E. Above all the little people. Don’t need another one like that.
I wouldn’t include Grant in that group.
Newt’s past is too closely tied to the present. It wasn’t 3 years ago he was carrying Nancy’s water and weight on the couch. At his age, politically opportunistic at best. If he’d done that 3 decades ago I’d have no problem.
We should use it often.
WE have ONE shot at saving our country with him at the helm...
But the captain can't sail the seas or bring the ship to shore alone.
We need to roll up our sleeves and get very busy - starting with our local Republican committees - the Women's clubs and the County Committees -
Character does matter. But it requires examination in context and our drive by media does a horrible job may that be because of their ineptness or personal bias.
Ultimately the reasoned and measured voter takes experience, education and the macro level guiding philosophy of the candidate as the primary measurements when evaluating. Unfortunately, this substance or “function” is only secondary as far as most voters is concerned, with “form” being the primary driving force behind the voters decision: name recognition, appearance (weight, height, hair, etc), demographics (sex, age, race), eight second sound bites that contain a feeling and reaction of the candidate (perfect example is Nixon vs. Kennedy), and simple party association. We have degenerated to the point where experience is a liability and the dark horse candidate such as Cain or Obama have the advantage since words can be pure but a record never is. Most voters that do some sort of research or analysis on determining how they vote simply look at the candidates through the single issue lens, i.e. gays, welfare bunnies, the enviro types. Essentially, reality no longer matters, the candidates are recreated for us (Kerry in 2004 is the consummate example of this) and the voter votes based on a feeling. Gingrich is an old, gray haired, white man with a geeky voice and who doesn’t walk with a swagger nor has the Hollywood/pop culture and news media seal of approval. What he has accomplished, his greater philosophical approach to security, economics, liberty, all this matters little for most voters. Thats the scary reality.
