Former Oklahoma congressman J.C. Watts is expected to endorse Newt Gingrich on Monday, according to multiple media reports, earning the former House Speaker another nod from a member of the 1994 Republican Revolution.
Watts, who served four terms representing Oklahoma's 4th district, was a star quarterback at the University of Oklahoma and replaced now-Speaker John Boehner as chairman of the House Republican Conference in 1999.
Since leaving Congress, Watts founded a lobbying and consulting firm in Washington. He has also served as a political commentator for CNN.
Watts provides Gingrich with much-needed establishment support while his once-ballooning poll numbers have begun a dramatic decline in early-voting states.
The Gallup poll shows a mostly settled (for a week +)national vote, with Newt ahead.
The worst poll has Newt tied with Mitt (CNN with large Indy/Dem sample).
Newt is pulling away today in SC in several polls.
He is starting to advertise in Iowa, finally!
He won the Hot Air poll.
He won the Townhall poll.
He won the Tea Party poll.
All this after taking a constant lambasting from all of the other candidates and millions and millions of dollars of attack ads from Paul, Perry, and Romney!
Newt PinG!!!!
Gross....
Newt is done. The media told me.
J.C. Watts was one of the few voices of sanity on that commie network.
Good. Nice to see a conservative and obviously an independent thinker backing Newt. This tells us that J.C. is not one of the establishment RINOs.
How about if Watts throws his hat in the ring?
I liked Watts. I thought he really was the real deal.

J.C. Watts had blockbuster election percentages every time he ran in Oklahoma.
He was also tarred and feathered by the hateful.
Great endorsement for Newt.
/Sarcasm
J.C. was just on TARDBALL supporting Newt.
Great news.
GO NEWT GO.....
Still remember a JC quote from the clinton era “Character is doing the right thing, even when no-one is looking.”
He has yet to utter one criticism of the won, chokes at the thought of it.
Didn’t J.C. support Obama last time?
I love JC Watts. He is a great American.
J.C.Watts donated to McCain’s campaign. See Wiki link.
In 2008, Watts announced he was developing a cable news network with the help of Comcast, focusing on a black audience, and that he considered voting for Barack Obama, criticizing the Republican party for not practicing outreach to the black community. Reports showed he contributed to John McCain, but not to Obama.
Wiki.
I’d rather have Watts than Gingrich.
Didn’t he support barry?
