FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): 2012 GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): 2012 GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann; House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio; Gov. Nikki Haley, R-S.C.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): 2012 GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Reps. Barney Frank, D-Mass., and Paul Ryan, R-Wis.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): 2012 GOP presidential candidate Jon Huntsman; Sens. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., and Robert Menendez, D-N.J.
I think we win it,just a matter of how tough it is to win.
I see Bachman having a better shot with some executive experience.
I heard it was the total for about 10 years, is that true?
He said he only received a portion of that money.
If that is true divided over 10 years is 160,000 Dollars a year. Is that a lot of money for a consultant company to receive? Would that be like a sweetheart deal?
Just asking...
DEAR ABBY:
I have always wanted to have my family history traced, but I can’t afford to spend a lot of money to do it. Any suggestions?
- Sam in California
DEAR SAM:
Register as a Republican and run for public office.

Because they don't know what the Tea Party is. They think it is the tea party (libertarians Ron Paulies) not the TEA PARTY who are millions of people who want to get our country back. There is no organization for this group of people. The tea party has the libertarians and that is who they think is the TEA PARTY.
I defended Palin on the McCain endorsement; I didn’t really see how she could do anything else at the time.
I defended her on a lot of things and then, frankly, she let us down, as Cain let his supporters down.
I don’t even care who she endorses now, but it will tell us something when she does.
He did mention the mirrors in space thing but I think I read the idea of schools taking role electronically somewhere else.
I’m a sci fi fan myself and someday we may have mirrors in space but right now we need to get rid of Obama, obamacare and the EPA and ... well, the list goes on.
SO true!
I know what would be done with us...
MDH made about 70,000, average a year for 30 years,
that would be receiving 2,100,000 (2.1 million dollars)
That had to be a sweetheart deal. I wonder what he DID for the company behind closed doors... ;)
And exactly how would the SSTF be paid back? By issuing more IOUs, i.e., non-market T-bills. In the meantime, SS, a pay as you go program, will experience a reduction in revenue, which must be made up by cashing in the IOUs in the SSTF to make up the shortfall. The General Fund must come up with the money to redeem them, which should give one pause since 42 cents of every federal dollar is borrowed.
What this really is another stimulus plan using borrowed money and having SS as the conduit to give people what amounts to a rebate. There will be no real payback to SS since the USG will just issue more IOUs to the SSTF over a ten year period. The money raised to payback those IOUs will be used by the General Fund for whatever purpose it wants just like the SS surplus used to used when we had one. SS has been running in the red since 2010.
What is disgusting about all of this is that the USG will be spending $30 billion more this year than last year. We can't even reduce our spending.
That’s the one thing that Newt did not have a good answer for, either in the debate or now.
But I guess nobody’s perfect.
My dream ticket would be Ryan/Rubio, but we have to plow the fields with the oxen God gave us.
amen to that.
The site has held up well today, especially considering that someone has apparently decided to post the entire New Testament on the religion thread.
Tax cut gives Reps cover to support it. This is not an accident or a coincidence.
Speaking of Ryan, has Newt ever explained why he dumped on Ryan’s plan (that I like a lot) calling it socialism or something?
I am not familiar with his influencing senators while he was a private citizen nor what kind of power he had. Nor do I know what side of the table he was on.
He did say he encouraged more regulations during that time.
a great one as always
I don't know what you mean by "true conservatism," but I do know that this may be true for fiscal issues, but not social issues. We have a number of libertarians, independents, and yes, even some Dems as members.
You can read the linked article. I don’t think we really know. Initially it was reported as $300,000 and now it is learned that it is $1.6 million. I bet the Dems operations research people know the true number as well as other contracts Newt’s consulting firm may have had. In any event, $1.6 million is not chump change to supposedly figure out ways that poor people could afford home ownership including thru better budgeting.
On the fannie /freddie mess is it not true that we are all making educated guesses on what actually happened and what actually transpired between Newt and the govt. agencies unless we have seen what he submitted to them?
Haley may be paying Romney back for the support he gave her, including going to SC to campaign for her. Did Newt do that?
