Rove is beyond disgusting. I blame him for most of the hate that President Bush received.

Was Palin a sellout when she endorsed McCain over JD Hayworth?

How does one influence top Republicans when one is NOT a lobbyist with money to throw around?

Bachmann was clear to the point of repeating it, and Newt would have been wise to just say he didn't meet with any Republicans to influence any legislation.

At the beginning of November Bachmann called Romney the frugal socialist and lambasted both Romney and Gingrich at during debates calling them Newt Romney and then listing the reasons why.

One of the posters on that thread reminded everyone (me) that Newt was the one who stood up for Palin when she was under attack. I think I’d forgotten that. I was always categorically DISGUSTED with the Party elders for saying NOTHING when Palin was being smeared—sometimes by Party insiders like that Schmidt guy.

I’ve found another reason to like Newt. Yeah! It gives me maybe 6. I’m cheering up!

Rather, he said to Mitt, “You’ve called Gingrich zany and so on ...” which gave Mitt the chance to explain how Newt wants to bounce light off of satellites to light the streets, etc. I never heard that particular idea but Newt does have flights of fancy. That’s not entirely a bad thing as long as he stays focused on important stuff and doesn’t dream about taking role electronically when he should be fighting Obamacare.

Mitt actually took valuable time to mention that dig at Newt??

Newt described the mirrors-in-space idea in a futurist type of book that he wrote 27 years ago. He was reciting a list of proposals by participants at a NASA-sponsored brainstorming conference.

Some of the futuristic ideas Newt mentioned in that book have come to pass. Some have not. That is the nature of futuristic ideas.

PolitiFact

There is no evidence to suggest that Newt has mentioned that idea since.

I think it's a safe bet to conclude that Newt's cite of that idea 27 years ago (lol) is not any indication that it would be part of his current day policy "focus".

However Mitt's lack of focus on current day policy, given his 27 years old deceptively framed cite of a Newt book passage, seems to be a problem.

I was listening to the podcast of Rush’s show on the way to a Christmas market today and I thin he’s got it right re: Haley.

If you hope to get a cabinet position or maybe get looked at for Veep you have to play the establishment game.

That’s exactly what she’s doing.

Bachmann has the most conservative voting record of any candidate in the race. Her lifetime ACU rating is 100.

HI onyx,

I just watched the last 5 minutes of Face the Nation.

Newt was GREAT, he was asked about money from Fannie and Freddie. He explained he did not receive money directly from them. He has consultant companies and was paid a portion of the money as the head of them.
And then explained his request for more regulations on them.

I am very sure the Newt haters will either distort, lie, or just plain ignore the truth.

Go NEWT!

Yep. Rush is right. Every last one of Republican office holders looking for higher office will play the same Romney endorsement game.

Yes, I like that, and although I prefer any of our candidates over Democratic Party Socialism, Bachmann is the one I prefer thinking, “If you want a job done right you have to do it yourself”, and I am not on the ballot.

“Soon enough, however, the ones who want a future in the family will drop out and kiss the ring of Mittens the Myth.

It’s how the game is played.”

Not anymore. Not after what happened with the 2010 midterms.

CW then said Conservatism wouldn’t win and looked what happened.

Anyone who thinks Mitt has this wrapped up...this early...isn’t a serious thinker about politics.

Newt supports the extension of the payroll tax reduction. Senator Kirk, no conservative, has actually provided the best explanation on why this is not a good idea. He also in the clip below says that we should not be calling it a reduction in the payroll tax, but rather a reduction in the payroll contribution. I wish more Reps would use this against the Dems instead of rolling over and agreeing to it. Kirk destroys the argument about the SS actuary's statement.
