Rep. Barney Frank is predicting that President Obama would easily win a general election against Newt Gingrich, but stopped short of guaranteeing that Obama would eclipse his 2008 victory.
The retiring Massachusetts Democrat recently said that a Gingrich nomination would be the best thing to happen to the Democrats since Barry Goldwater.
Asked for a prediction on electoral votes, Frank this week told The Hill, The thing is [Gingrich] could carry most of the South. He said Obama's count would be in the 300s against the Georgia Republican.
To win the White House, 270 electoral votes are needed.
Obama won 365 electoral votes in 2008 against Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who captured 173. In 1964, President Lyndon Johnson won 486 electoral votes to Goldwaters 52.
Earlier this fall amid Texas Gov. Rick Perry's surge in the GOP primary polls, Frank said Mitt Romney would present a more difficult challenge for Democrats in the general election.

Democrats always say the opposite of what they intend. In other words, the man who almost single-handedly caused the worst financial crisis in history, is scared to death that the GOP will nominate Gingrich.
I'll take Noot over Myth, if that's the choice we have.
“Likability” is what got Obama in office. Smooth operator and i don’t want another one. Bachmann took herself down regardless of her conservativism....I don’t want a barbie doll styled made over woman at the helm who makes the same mis-steps she’s been making from the get go. She trashed herself and be better if she backs down now.
We shall soon see. Me thinks that Bawney Fwank and the Democrats are quaking in their boots at the thought of facing Newt. Newt has the ability to focus the light on Obama and they are not comfortable with another person setting the agenda of this election.
Triple-nightmare!

Gingrich can win ever debate he enters, but the American people won’t know that unless the media tells them so.

Barney’s only functioning brain exists between his legs. His actual brain (inside his skull) died of loneliness and boredom long ago.
tsk tsk...yes...we all do error now and then.. and in correcting others seem to do so ourselves in along the way...
“fox has become the SOS, not worthy of my time anymore.”
Exactly.
