Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson is planning to direct $20 million to an outside group backing Newt Gingrichs presidential campaign, multiple sources told POLITICO the first answer to urgent pleas from allies to the former speakers long-time billionaire supporters.
After leaving Congress, Gingrich cultivated a network of a few dozen uber-wealthy backers who poured tens of millions of dollars into a network of groups that helped him maintain a foothold in politics. Now, operatives supporting his presidential campaign are asking those same donors to write fat checks to a suite of new super PACs they hope can spend big on ads to offset Gingrich campaign fundraising that had lagged behind his rivals.
Adelson is considered the prized get for pro-Gingrich groups.
Ron Reese, a spokesman for Adelsons Las Vegas Sands Corp. declined to comment.
But sources who requested anonymity told POLITICO that Adelson planned to cut a check to one of the PACs as soon as this week.
A major contribution from Adelson would enable the recipient group to start airing ads in Iowa to counter a week-long anti-Gingrich on-air assault that is already taking a toll on his frontrunner status in the Hawkeye State, according to private and public polling.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Need to loot to give Mitt the boot:)
That partially answers Romney shill Noelle Nikpour.
She was on Hannity last night, poo-pooing the idea that Newt can raise money.
Wealthy benefit from government regulation reducing entry into the marketplace.
Big government benefits from big government.
Newt is pro big government.
When I see reasons to believe Newt will shut down agencies and downsize the remaining agencies, I will vote for him.
I’m not saying this is a good thing. I’m just saying that it’s a thing. But I hope it is just the thing to edge Romney into the ignominy of complete obscurity. Then it would become the greatest thing ever.
Our side (the right, not necessarily Newt) needs a billionaire or two. I’m sick of hearing about Soros.
Nobody knows how to plan and organize a campaign better that Newt. There has been recent concern that he was lacking in those critical areas. But never underestimate a master politician like Newt. There is little that goes unattended in that regard.
Remember the FOX debates tonight. They are going to be fun to watch.
Unlike Obama, Newt can’t steal money and have his billionaire friends recycle it to his campaign
Are you saying something about a certain disgraced Dem named cough corzine cough .
Help is on the way!
Newt still needs big bucks to compete with the bottomless well of cash that Mitt has, though.
Gingrich’s first TV ad, which went up on Iowa TV early last week, was also positive in nature, with the candidate calling for shrinking government and reducing regulations. He added that “some people say the America we know and love is a thing of the past. I don’t believe that. Because working together, I know we can rebuild America.”
You need to back up your rhetoric with facts first. Or else you just stoop to the level of the enemies of this country.
Newt has never been “Pro Big Government” and you cannot prove it or even back it up.

I agree! :)
I agree! :)
$20,000,000 (almost) down, $980,000,000 to go.
It’s going to take a $billion to run against obama’s $billion. Whatever it takes is not too much to get obama and the left out of power.
you can say that again!
you can say that again!
She is from LR and not unfamiliar to me. That anyone would heed to her opinion on serious matters is amusing, ironic. I get a good belly laugh every time she pops up on FNC. OTOH, I suppose she's done very well for herself and there's hope that we all can become authentic "Republican Strategists" whatever that means.
But it blows me away, anyway.
