Tea Partiers Reject Beck's Claim That Support of Gingrich Is Racial
By Judson Berger

Glenn Beck is catching heat from the Tea Party movement that he helped champion -- and helped champion him -- after suggesting Tea Partiers who support Newt Gingrich over President Obama would do so only because Gingrich is white.
The former Fox News host made the comments in an interview over the weekend on Fox Business Network. Beck, after calling Gingrich a "progressive" and the "only candidate" in the Republican presidential race he could not vote for, issued what he described as a "challenge" to the Tea Party base -- which in large part has flocked to the former speaker's candidacy.
"This man is a progressive," Beck said. "So if you've got a big government progressive ... in Obama -- one in Newt Gingrich, one in Obama -- ask yourself this, Tea Party. Is it about Obama's race?"
Judge Andrew Napolitano, host of the FBN show, questioned Beck on the argument.
"It must be about race," Beck responded. "I mean, what else is it? ... It's the policies that matter."

You said “an obscure network no one watches”.
That reference says that you may be mistaken.
What's it to you? I can't get that vision of two political slags sitting on a couch spouting lies out of my head. It's my right to find support for a political whore like Gingrich something I can't do. Anybody who wants to support Franklin Raines lawn jockey has a right to do so.
“Those comments can only be described as nutty,” Phillips wrote on the Tea Party Nation site. “Some Tea Party members, such as myself, like Newt Gingrich. ... Calling us racists because we prefer Gingrich, who despite his flaws, loves America and wants the best for America, is absolutely nuts.
The above certainly explains my feeling on the subject.
“This is an blatant effort by GB to be controversial to drum up ratings. Same with Savage”.
I’m not sure I can speak for Beck, but he surely lost me on this one, and racial, not a chance.
Anyone attempting to make the case that Newt Gingrich has anything in common with Barack Insane Obama is just nuts. Throwing around the progressive label to do it is just more nutz. Given a choice, and choosing Barack Insane Obama over Mr Gingrich, could be worthy of the label “VILLAGE IDIOT”. JMHO.
I think this is being blown way out of proportion. Beck loves to speak in hyperbole. His comments about this are not serious; his point is that Gingrich is a progressive and that TP people who support Gingrich are just not examining Gingrich’s views properly.
Beck, Foxnews, pubbie establishment are all beating down Newt and pushing Mittens...BIG TIME! For my money, I'd rather have Perry, but Newt will do. Anybody but Romney!(Bowbama lite...)
Personally, I don’t care if voters choose him because he is white.
Until someone starts calling black folks on their mindless, race-based voting habits, I don’t care.
It certainly seems that way to me. I'm not sure how you can spin the following to mean anything other than that:
Ask yourself this Tea Party, is it about Obama's race? Because that what it appears to be to me. If you're against him, but you're for this guy, it must be about race"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOkaLfJyqyw&feature=player_embedded
>>230k likely not all watching at once<<
You’re just assuming that. This is a 24 hour on demand network.
Seriously, I think that Glenn is getting a bit off, but to disregard the power he has is a mistake. We just got his radio show back in Detroit. I’m sure that if he goes way off, people will begin turning away, but it’s not now.
That said; we do know that Newt values our history; and our American heritage. Obama does not. Comparing the two; by any measures is ludicrous and defeating in the worst way.
That said; care most where Newt stands today; as man who admits mistakes and has 'grown' and continues to. A man, who per above reference; is an authentic Patriot. Not a bogus; inauthentic impostor; by fraudulent and hypocritical; thoughts/words/deeds - as is the now; 'occupier' of our White House.. He is a man who knows history; and how to avoid our repeating critical 'mistakes past'.
Newt knows we have an Islamist enemy at work in our Country; he knows the difference between a Capitalist and a Socialist; and he not afraid per aforementioned; to name them.
Works for me. . .
You are entitled to your own opinion. You are not entitled to your own facts.
Newt and Obama are both "big government" guys whether you choose to acknowledge it, or not.
I disagree with Beck's opinion on where Gingrich's love of government solutions would lead us, but given Newt's record of doing 180s on supposed core beliefs, I am far from sure Glenn is mistaken.
Newt and Obama are both “big government” guys whether you choose to acknowledge it, or not.
Let’s put it this way, Newt may very well be a “big government” guy, but I don’t think you can begin to convince me they are in any way alike in their “big governmentness”.
Just one example, would be in regards the economy. Newt would immediately stop digging, Obama OTOH will continue to spend until he is stopped. Whenever that will be.
You seem awfully sure of the intentions of the guy that declared the era of Reagan over, declared global warming settled, declared a quarter of Obamacare okay, and was not able to hold onto his Speakership when the likes of Jim Wright, Tom Foley, and Nancy Pelosi, we’re....
And what do you think Newt believed his seat on the couch next to Princess Pelosi was going to lead to?
Thats not what I asked about, but it is clear from other posters that Beck was taking a jab at the MSM/Culture that claims the Teaparty as racist.
As I said in my post, I think his is a poorly-considered argument. Gingrich's attachment to Progressivism is nowhere near as complete and profound as Obama's. If Tea Party members are still searching for a viable candidate, it is not because they are intellectually confused or because they have been misled, but rather because no single candidate seems to adequately represent their interests.
In his rush to battle the forces of Progressivism, Beck ignores a more immediate and critical battle: the war between the Republican Party's leadership and its rank-and-file members, which is both largely unremarked and unprecedented in modern political history.
If you polled GOP party leaders and opinion makers in Washington as to their Presidential preferences, Mitt Romney would emerge as a nearly-unanimous choice. One small problem: Republican primary voters (like many of us here) detest the man and will not vote for him, ever. It's Ruling Class vs. Country Class, and in a sense the '12 GOP primary race has become a proxy for that fight, which I believe will very soon break out into the open, possibly with a revolt against the GOP leadership. We'll see.
“Doh! Its a fellow-Mormon thing.”
Then he should support Huntsman. At least he wasn’t for romneycare or abortions.
And what do you think Newt believed his seat on the couch next to Princess Pelosi was going to lead to?
As he has explained, one of the stupidest things he has done, and long after we all saw it as pretty dumb. I may be smarter in that respect, but in other areas related to running the country, I have a great deal of respect for Mr Newts judgement in that regard and a lot less for my own.
No one is perfect except for the Savior of mankind, least of all our numerous candidates for public office. It is a primary, and it is only right that their weaknesses are brought out. The primary becomes a general election and then things get really serious. Regardless of who the winner of the primary is, I am going to have to support them if I have any particle of hope to rid this country of the present occupier.
Admitting stupidity is hardly an "explanation," nor is it an answer. Are you trying to float the idea this genius never even considered the ramifications of his self-admitted stupid action?
And what's with this "nobody's perfect" drivel? Since when is brainless stupidity excused by "nobody's perfect?"
