Much like what the government does with unemployment statistics, this chart represents a 4-poll "rolling average" for the latest 20+ polls listed at RealClearPolitics.com (plus other recent national polls).

I also weighted the polls by their size. For example, a poll with a survey size of 1000 was weighted proportionately heavier than an 324 survey size.

I have my reservations about Gingrich in the electability department (how often has any house speaker gotten elected president vs how often has a house speaker been forced to resign?), but there should be no doubt the press is going to see an intractable dilemma for Republicans no matter who they nominate.

People love the media getting their heads handed to them by Newt Gingrich. Others even started copying his style and it’s becoming dangerous to have guest on a show now.

Newt relayed that he’d like to have John Bolton on his team as Sec Def or Sec State. That tells me where Newt stands on foreign policy.

I’m still listening and following but I have to admit I love the way he talked about the Palistinians. I’ve been waiting years for a leader to say that.

1) The MSM media wants him compared to others.

Actually they don't, they've already tried to sink him several times over the past few weeks, including at the last debate. Romney is still their man because they know that if he gets the nomination, they will introduce Americans to all of the crazy crap that makes up the Mormon religion. Plus the know a RINO running against Obama helps Obama out (see McCain vs. Obama), and they know a lot of us absolutely will not vote for Romney.

2) They have lots of negative information on Gingrich that will hopefully degrade him during the election.

All of that has already been used against him over the past 20 years and here we are. Hell, Snuffleupagus and Sawyer tried to sling it at him last Saturday during the debate and it seemed to only make him stronger.

The NBC poll is not an outlier.

The BIGGEST difference in the recent polls is that some ask their questions differently, and tend to elicit MORE UNDECIDED responses.

Note the TWO polls in particular where Gingrich is the LOWEST at 33%, (PEW and GALLUP), those polls also have the HIGHEST UNDECIDED.

There is no doubt in my mind that most Americans don't really comprehend that Romney is a Mormon or what the views within the Mormon church involve. There is also no doubt in my mind that if Romney gets the nomination, the MSM will begin a wholesale "education" of the American population on just what being a Mormon is.

Agree with it, disagree with it, Americans understand the baggage that Newt has, and it's nothing new to them. It's a known entity.

The Mormon stuff on the other hand...you can bet that Americans would hear all about Warren Jeffs and the current-day polygamists, as well as connecting it to the past with Brigham Young, Joseph Smith, etc. Americans will hear all about the things that Smith, Young, etc. have said, and you can bet that the MSM will have very in-depth coverage of Willard's family life, complete with numerous interviews with his relatives in Mexico.

If I were in the MSM, Romney would be the guy I want, because the stories about the Mormon church practically write themselves. It would be easy to knock Willard out of the general election with that stuff. "Sister Wives", "Big Love" and all of those other types of shows would be airing everyday.

These two internals from the poll show this poll is a joke.

1)19% of those polled didn't vote in the last election.

2)Obama beat McCain by 7 points but the voters on theis poll have it at a 10 point difference.

Republicans are under represented and it's not a poll of likely voters.
