Thanks, Luv, for the hot chocolate......

Things have been an adventure since Friday. I drove to work Friday, went to the PO for Christmas stamps for my Mom at noon, and when I left for home I only had 1st gear. It was quite the adventure getting all the way across town. Somewhere in the first third of the trip it shifted to 2nd, but that was it. I limped home.

I knew I could use my Dad’s suburban on Monday...no problem, just how to get my car to the mechanic. Will have AAA tow it on Thursday. (Another day off starting to fill up with unplanned stuff to do.)

Sunday was shopping, but it started to snow and quit, snow and quit. I figured it could wait til the way home on Monday. Sunday evening, heavy snow, then HIGH winds and temps into the 40s, and then rain, and temp drop into the low 30s...all within about 90 minutes. The day’s snow gone, again. *sigh* Water standing in the gutter. When I went to bed it had started, again, to snow, and heavily. Woke up this morning to 8” of snow. Tried to shovel, but it was too wet and heavy. Broke out my little snow blower and it did a pretty good job. Then off to work while it still snowed. Finally figured out the defroster and windshield wipers did their job.

Fast forward to 3pm...boss said we could wrap things up and go home before it got dark. Got my timesheets printed to bring home. Out to the suburban at 3:45p.... Temps hovering at freezing and windshield covered in ice. Start car, start defroster, scrape ice...but wipers are non-functional. No sound at all.

I pass my mechanic every evening on the way home from work. He is always closed. But today, we got out early...so I stopped. No empty bays, but he had one of the guys check for “dead”, ordered a new motor, took the old one out and then put the new one in when it was delivered and a bay opened.

As I was waiting I realized it was Post time (I had expected to be home by then). Minor panic. Call Connie...tell her I’m stuck and will ping when I get home. Interesting last few hours. Someone was watching over me. Payroll never seems to be able to leave early. When I usually leave, the shop is closed. NOT a good time to be without wipers. Now I am home safe and sound, with new wipers. Whew!! And more stormy weather in the offing.

My goodness! You REALLY needed that hot chocolate...and probably laced with something stronger! LOL!

I’m glad you finally got home safely and hope the rest of the week goes smoother than the first part!

8” of snow....we would be absolutely stalled out as a city with that much snow. LOL!

Poor Ma!
You need a new transmission, too?
Mike is putting one in Moxie tomorrow.
I drove the Sirocco today.
I forgot was a bada$$ that little car is.
Wooo!

You have been having automotive hell.

Glad you didn’t have to drive all the way home without wipers.

Wow, what a day for you!

I was just wondering to myself this afternoon how the little pick-up was behaving after your transmission problem.

I’m glad you had the kind of luck you did today.

Wow....you really have had some adventures!

Thank heavens the mechanic was still open & you got out of the office early.

The phone connection was soooooo bad it was like talking into a can! lol

I heard basically “mechanic” & “I’m OK”.;-}
