Radio host Michael Savage offers Gingrich $1 million to drop out of GOP race
The Hill ^ | 12/12/2011 | Jonathan Easley

Posted on 12/12/2011 2:32:33 PM PST by merrylu

Conservative radio host Michael Savage is offering Republican presidential frontrunner Newt Gingrich $1 million if he drops out of the GOP race within the next 72 hours, according to a message on his website.

“Newt Gingrich is unelectable. Mitt Romney is the only candidate with a chance of defeating Barack Obama, and there is nothing more important than that for the future health, safety, and security of the United States of America,” the statement read. “Therefore I am offering Newt Gingrich one million dollars to drop out of the presidential race for the sake of the nation.”

Savage conceded that Romney is “not as strong a conservative as many would like him to be,” but listed the reasons why he thinks Gingrich is a threat to Republicans.

Some have argued that Gingrich’s prowess as a debater would pit him well against President Obama during the election, but Savage said that regardless of how well he does, he will “come off badly compared to Obama and look like nothing more than what he is: a fat, old, white man.”

“If Newt Gingrich really loves this country as much as he says he does, if he really wants what is best for America, he will set his ego aside, call me, and accept my offer,” the statement said. “His continued candidacy spells nothing but ruin for conservatives, Republicans and all true American patriots. One million dollars in exchange for preserving the nation, Newt. I say take the money and don’t run.”

Michael Savage is NOT a broken clock, and is NEVER right! His radio show is more about HIM than it is a program on conservative issues. In fact, Savage is a liberal pretending to be a conservative, and he's a total dick.

Tell Michael Savage I’ll take “fat, old and white” ANY DAY over the “Occupy White House” movement that’s currently squatting at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.!

Savage/Weiner has no credibility anywhere.

Michael Savage is a liar and a shameless self-promoter. He switched political allegiances from liberal to conservative when he realized that there was more radio money on the right.

I HAVE ENUMERATED THE REASONS WHY GINGRICH CANNOT SUCCEED IN AN ELECTION AGAINST OBAMA:

•WHEN HE WAS SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE, GINGRICH FAILED TO DELIVER ON HIS SO-CALLED CONTRACT WITH AMERICA

False. Not only did the Contract with America deliver the first Republican House majority in 40 years (something most conservatives had long since viewed as an impossiblility), it carried through on every single one of its promises.

•HE MADE ADS WITH NANCY PELOSI PROMOTING THE FALSE THEORY OF GLOBAL WARMING.

Gingrich's views at the time this ad was made were based on the best information at the time, which turned out to have been falsified by consirators at East Anglia University. Any opinions he may have expressed before 2009 are moot. His current position is that he believes the earth is indeed getting warmer, but that we do not know why. If this is Weiner's second strongest argument against Gingrich, he has no argument.

•HE’S IN FAVOR OF AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Fearmongering is a favorite tatic of liberals. It is the reason why we have spent the past few decades not solving the Social Security crisis. These are the facts: Newt Gingrich is the only candidate who actually has a comprehensive immigration plan, and his plan does not offer amnesty to anyone.

•HE’S TAKEN HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FROM FANNIE MAE AND FREDDIE MAC, TWO OF THE MOST CORRUPT FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS IN HISTORY.

A lot of people have made money from mortgage securitization, the largest credit market in the world. The more relevant question is: What, exactly are you, Michael Weiner accusing the former speaker of? To me, this sounds like more vague fearmongering.

•HE’S CHEATED ON TWO WIVES AND LEFT BOTH OF THEM WHILE THEY WERE BOTH SERIOUSLY ILL, WHICH WILL DESTROY HIS CHANCES AMONG FEMALE VOTERS.

These are lies which originated in the pages of the ultra-left magazine Mother Jones. If, and when, Gingrich chooses to address them, he is going to come off as a victim here.

•HE CALLED THE REPUBLICAN PLAN TO REFORM MEDICARE “RIGHT WING SOCIAL ENGINEERING.”

While Gingrich conceeded that his choice of words was unfortunate, his position, that no political party has the right to impose dramatic change against the consent of the governed, is one that a majority of of conservatives actually agree with. More fearmongering.

•IN A PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE AGAINST OBAMA, REGARDLESS OF HOW WELL HE DOES, ON TELEVISION, HE WILL COME OFF BADLY COMPARED TO OBAMA AND LOOK LIKE NOTHING MORE THAN WHAT HE IS: A FAT, OLD, WHITE MAN.

Last time we checked, Mitt Romney was as white or whiter than Newt Gingrich, and older than Obama. Is Weiner suggesting that voters will relate better to the "Super Rich White Man?"

The throwback to 1979/1980 was that people said a washed up actor from California was unelectable, dangerous, volatile, a ‘bomb thrower’. Yet, he won and helped end the Cold War and rebuilt America.

I tell you what, I’d pay Savage and Glenn Beck a million dollars to shut the F*#( up!

Savage (Weiner) donated $5000 to Jerry Brown.

He's a long time San Francisco , Berkley Marxist.

Savage is a con man putting on a “conservative” act to make millions off of duped listeners/followers. Still savage manages to further his agenda by helping to destroy any opposition to democrats and socialism.

Savage didn't like Palin, and now Gingrich. Of course savage would go for Romney. Savage is a liberal/Marxist/democrat plant that is like the ABC/CBS/CNN liberals out to further socialism/liberalism.

Savage is still on the radio? LOL.

Anyone pulling for Romney is OUT OF THEIR MIND.

Go Newt!

Savage is a marxist like Karl Marx is.

Savage (Weiner) donated $5000 to liberal democrat Jerry Brown who is now the governor of California.

Savage always bashes capitalism, and conservatives like Palin and Savage is now for Romney.

Savage was even almost crying going on an anti gun rant When the Virginia Tech shootings happened 5 years ago.

I never considered the possibility that we could actually end up with someone worse than Juan McCain or George W. Bush until Newt surged to the front of the pack.

The Republican Party seems incapable of nominating a decent national candidate for the presidency. It is terrifying to think that Newt could actually end up with the nomination. Just imagine all the people he will take down with him.

If I am thinking this, then legions of independent voters are thinking the same way. Newt is not an option. I would rather have the status quo than Newt.

As long as Obama is president, we are on the offensive and he inspires resistance. Can you imagine what it would be like to be stuck with Newt for four long years?

"I predict that one day Savage and Beck will have adjoining padded cells."

LMAO!

They may be installing the padding as we speak. Today Beck said that if Newt got the nomination, he'd support RuPaul as a 3rd party candidate. What a douchebag.

Anyone find it odd the timing of these two comments from Beck and Savage? Strange how the entire political class is for Romney. Even Rush and Hannity today were both implicitly sticking up for Mitt by saying the $10,000 bey outrage was silly, and it wasn’t even a real bet.

with one or two more SC appointments and a slew of federal judegships, Obama will have steered the nation to a point of no return.
An extremely important consideration! I remember listening to Dennis Praeger warning about Clinton back in 92, he said that when you vote for a president, you are also voting for their rolodex. (or e-mail contacts to update it a bit).

I’m left wondering if 3/4 of the people on this thread even listen to Savage or if they’re just spouting DU talking points.

Several of you are not just wrong, you’re off the reservation.

Maybe you’re all Lindsey Graham supporters?

...even listen to Savage...

I listen to Savage sometimes, but of those times, I've yet to sit through an entire broadcast. I can't take his whining and egotism. When he's not in those two modes, he's somewhat enjoyable and entertaining to listen to.

Same here. In all fairness Savage is a very smart guy, though I wonder how he manages to fit his ego in the broadcast booth.

Oh, that he is, without a doubt. I'm glad you mentioned it because he deserves to be recognized as such. For some reason though, Rush was able to make it work, whereas he hasn't and that seems to eat him up. Endless monologues is not his forte for some reason. I think if he opened up the phone lines more, and put some of that energy there, it might work out better for him. But his show and he can do what he wants.

Your post is how I feel about the probable future of the U.S., as a country. For many to most people, their optimism is getting in the way of the realities of where the U.S. is really heading, for the long-term future. The left controls way too much for “gloom and doom” not to happen, sometime in the future, and I include all leftist jobs that are non-elected jobs, throughout the U.S. and worldwide: journalists, reporters, all other jobs within the MSM, actors, actresses, all other jobs within the entertainment world, social workers, teachers, college professors, psychologists, all other jobs within the education field, leftist pastors, leftist lawyers, leftist lobbyists, most labor union administrative jobs, most human services administrative jobs,...This doesn’t imply that all non-leftists should, just, give up, but it’s getting harder and harder to, successfully, get around all of the overreaching political correctness that continues to happen, worldwide.
