Newt takes no-adultery pledge

When the Iowa social conservative group The Family Leader unveiled a sweeping pledge on marriage and abortion over the summer, Newt Gingrich was one of the candidates who passed on signing it.
Now, Gingrich has answered the pledge with a lengthy written response, vowing to support a federal marriage amendment, reinstate the Mexico City policy -- and, per the stipulations of The Family Leader pledge, to be faithful to his wife:
I also pledge to uphold the institution of marriage through personal fidelity to my spouse and respect for the marital bonds of others.

To Bob Vander Plaats and the Executive Board of The FAMiLY LEADER:
I appreciate the opportunity to affirm my strong support of the mission of the FAMiLY LEADER by solemnly vowing to defend and strengthen the family through the following actions I would take as President of the United States.
Defending Marriage. As President, I will vigorously enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, which was enacted under my leadership as Speaker of the House, and ensure compliance with its provisions, especially in the military. I will also aggressively defend the constitutionality of DOMA in federal and state courts. I will support sending a federal constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman to the states for ratification. I will also oppose any judicial, bureaucratic, or legislative effort to define marriage in any manner other than as between one man and one woman.

Yea! “Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich this week signed a pledge to… stay true to his wife, Callista.” WOW! What ever happened to loyalty, Family Values and decency? This “branding” or “image make over” or whatever it is, smells like a Wolf in Sheep’s clothing.
Newt made the same pledges to previous wives. Newt like this “Pledging Game” because he wins all the time.
In baseball and the state of California, if you have THREE strikes you are OUT. Why are we cutting Newt some slack? He is a habitual at best and addict at worst. It all adds up to the same old Newt.

Remember even Jimmy Carter admitted to Playboy magazine in that famous interview (which I actually read and for which I claimed I was buying the mag --- yeah right) that he had "lusted in his heart many times..." If you think it, you've done it in the Lord's eyes. There is no sliding scale on sin. No such thing as big or little sins. That little white lie is just as bad as 1st degree murder. That's what I meant. You don't sound that combative, but you do sound like you're spinning lightly into hyperbole to make the point.

Indeed, and did the mother also request that Newt refuse to pay child support, so that the local church had to take a collection to help her and her children?

Good Lord! Newt is reinventing himself just like Romney did in order to appear in a manner that strongly appeals to the GOP base. But where is the great sacrifice in making a no adultery pledge now when he is soft a mushy? At 68, I don’t see what he gives up by restraining himself from the wiles of other women.
Now, if he had made a no-adultery pledge when he was 35 years old it would have been really hard to live up to (no pun intended), considering that Newt has been extremely sexually active since age 16 when he dated his teacher (who eventually became the first Mrs. Gingrich).

I understand your need to give me information that may hurt my decision on Newt’s character. You can understand the need to clarify what is and is not true, correct?

It doesn’t seem some understand that we have all sinned. That if it were not for the GRACE of God and The Death of his Son and resurrection. We are all lost.
Jesus Christ spoke to a man, in the new testament, who murdered some of HIS people. Caused the man to go blind until he met someone that could explain and then be healed.

Newt is not a murderer...
But he is a sinner that gave his heart to God and apologized. Now, THAT IS ALL GOD requires of us.
Saul became Paul and was a huge spokesman for the gentile world which is me.
Newt can and will be used by God as God sees fit.
IF God can forgive, so can I.
Right, I am all about the truth, even if it hurts.
Newt may end up being our alternative to Obama. I would prefer a truly conservative candidate like Santorum or Bachmann, but so be it. All I’m saying is — if we all get collective amnesia about who Newt is, his real political beliefs, and the way he conducts himself, we will have a problem when he wins the general and reverts, McCain-style, to his big government ways and his amoral way of betraying his promises.
Let me repeat. Newt is amoral, and if we as a group have made the decision to back him for the presidency, we better keep our eyes wide open and understand how he operates; we better think about ways we can make him serve conservative principles, or we’ll be living through Obama-lite.

Everyday he is looking less Presidential and more like a clown and this pledge just looks like stunt, totally meaningless.
Maybe Noot should run for Ministry of Silly Walks.
Some parody, and now I just read that Michael Savage has offered Newt $1 million to withdraw from the race in 72 hours since MS thinks only Mitt could possibly win.
This is a significant pledge. He’s promising not to make out with Nancy Pelosi again. :P
Look you need the meanest guy in the room to beat Obama at his own game and Newt is it. He will do it with a smile though!
