Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney says the Muslims he knows are "peace-loving and America-loving individuals."
At a campaign event in Cedar Rapids Friday, the subject of how to handle the threat posed by radical Islam was raised.
As reported in the Des Moines Register, Romney reminded the gathering he had grown up in the Detroit area which has a large Muslim community.

That’s not the only “American Community” he has problems resonating with. Does he really resonate with anyone? He doesn’t resonate with progressives or Dim’s. Why would they pick a white, elitist, socialist when they can assuage their guilt and feel great about themselves for voting for a black, muslim, leninist? He doesn’t resonate with conservatives cause he isn’t one.
So, who does that leave? Who the hell is his base anyway? I wish the media would figure it out and start giving them the hard time about his “mormon problem,” and leave the “evangelical’s” alone.

Newt seems to have no problem calling a spade a spade and taking the heat for it. The irony is that doing so only loses them the support of people who wouldn’t support them anyway. I would bet that they would win far more support than they would lose because “the people” are so starved for honesty that they would overwhelmingly support someone who had the integrity to tell the truth and take the risk.
Newt has issues galore but Romney just put the final nail in his coffin and Newt has moved into an acceptable hold the nose position for me (and a lot of others based on comments here.)
I agree it would be refreshing, but lets be honest though. Most people here on FR aren’t sheep and get their news from the big three, but a big portion of the voter block is. Putting yourself in front of the firing line that is the MSM over a question like that one will give your opponent and especially Obama backers great ammo.
He played it safe and opted for par instead of letting the big dog howl and exciting the crowd, to be honest I really never expected him to do anything less. If he had perhaps he wouldn’t be dropping so fast either, which is a very good thing imho.
Stick a fork in Mittens, he is roasted, or done. Give Newt credit for telling it just like it is.

The shame of course is the undeniable fact that the MSM is trying desperately to make this into a two man race by manipulating the questions and the time.
The other shame is the finger in the wind adjustments in belief that is taking place.

Um... no.
The beliefs that motivate people might aim them towards peace. A religion that contains core beliefs such as turning the other cheek and loving thy neighbor might promote peace. A religion that contains core beliefs about an eightfold path toward enlightenment through contemplative reflection might promote peace. A religion that contains core beliefs about the universal nature of belief in one human family might promote peace.
Islam, on the other hand, regularly and routinely exhorts believers to zealously kill infidels and convert the world through the sword won’t promote peace. There is no Moslem equivalent for Mother Theresa, Saint Francis of Assisi, the Laughing Buddha, Abdul Baha, Black Elk, or any of a thousand other loved religious figures. There is no equivalent to the Salvation Army among the Moslems. There is no moral equivalent to “live and let live.”
It doesn’t matter if most of the believers of a religion are not on the front lines creating the mayhem when the religion itself relentlessly supports those on the front line. Check out polling among Moslems for all sorts of mayhem, ranging from genocide against the Jews to jihad using weapons of mass destruction. Huge majorities of Moslems support those things. It’s supportive of their worldview.
You also seem to miss that Islam is not just a relgion - it’s a form of government and a means of social control using religion as the glue that binds together people. Most of the Koran deals with politics, not religion.
Your statement tells me that you’re a good guy with a large heart. It’s not a universal attribute among Earth’s people. Sorry.

Islamic nations still have a ways to go to catch up with the carnage of the 2 World Wars of the 20th Century, which was fought mostly by Christians against Christians. Hitler and Stalin did more damage to Christians than the Muslims did since the battle of Vienna.
