I’m getting a lot of crappy incandescent bulbs lately. Apparently they’re end of run bulbs.

Not to seem conspiratorial, but I’ve noticed the same thing. I’ve been buying incandescents for the past year and stocking them. They seem to burn out WAY quicker than usual.

A well intentioned (liberal) friend of my mother changed the bulbs on her front and rear porch and both sides of her garage door to ones that look like this:
One of them melted and fused itself to the lamp base. Luckily, it popped the breaker, or she may have had a serious house fire.

Don't buy Bargain bulbs. Spend the extra money on double life or better yet go too a lighting store and buy commercial grade 100 watt bulbs. They have a heavier filament and brass base. Also check your house voltage. IF it is 125 volts at an outlet that is part of the reason also. Many utilities are jacking their voltages up. That is one of the reasons CFL don't last long either.
