DALLAS -- Albert Pujols has agreed to a 10-year, $250 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney on Thursday.

The deal includes a full no-trade clause, which Pujols had been seeking and may have been a sticking point in his negotiations with the Miami Marlins.

Wow, this is incredible. I think the Angels gave him way too much, but there's no denying that he's still a great player, and this is a huge addition for them.

WHOA!!! WOW!!!

It does make sense in that he can DH in the AL. I’m suspicious that he’s “31” yers old...same as I don’t believe David Ortiz is only “36”.

Good luck to him. And it does suck for the Rangers.

Its nice to have an owner who will pay WHATEVER to win.

AP is still a feared hitter, and will have several more strong years, but he is no longer the hands down, best in the game.

The Angels GROSSLY overpaid for his services, but I guess like other cash rich teams, they can afford to be hideously inefficient with their payrolls. That is great for the fans in those cities, but a huge black mark on the overall fairness of constructing MLB rosters.

Anyway, good for my Cardinals. With the huge savings going forward, on a contract for a player whose performance is already in decline, they have a lot more latitude to make the World Champions even better.

Good! I’m a Nats fan nad have gotten sick watching the Marlins snatching everyone up...they got Reyes and Buerle...I’d be sick if they got Pujols too. They’ll probably get Fielder if he’s really available though.

Thus begins the decline of Albert Pujols. He was a great player.

Always about the money. Hope he enjoys the bigger tax bill in CA.

But if he is thinking that after he retires that he will be welcomed back and treated the way Cardinal Nation treats players like Stan, Gibby and Lou he is dead wrong.

Frankly I really didn’t care if he stayed or not...just as long as the Cubs didn’t get him.

Texas doesn’t need another huge, long term contract, esp at FB. They’ve learned that lesson, there, and this is one position you can skimp on. I happened to think Moreland can develop at the plate. He had an operation to remove a bone which should help his hitting.

Besides, Angels need pitching more than a slugger and good FB guy. Texas adds another strong rotation guy and they will win the Div once again. Who else scares anyone in the Angels batting order? They will rue the day they didn’t allocate big money for their pitching staff.

I am a Pittsburgh Pirates fan, and We Are The 99%. The Angels need to give us Albert but continue to pay his salary, to make it FAIR!

I agree with you. The Cards will miss him this year, but in the long run, this gives them far more flexibility with their roster. Looking forward to seeing Albert at Progressive Field in Cleveland when the Angels play the Tribe.

Washington can always issue an intentional pass every time Pujols comes to the plate...unless the bases are loaded, of course. :-)

Among informed baseball fans, there certainly IS. You and relief actually.

Grossly overpaying for talent is a long-term losing proposition, except for a few select teams who can afford to be wasteful.

Cardinals’ fans are looking forward to efficient deployment of the huge financial resources saved by not signing an already declining AP.

That’s a head-spinning contract! On the other hand, it is in California, so how much of that loot will go into State coffers?
