PHILADELPHIA Prosecutors announced Wednesday that they will no longer pursue the death penalty against former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal, meaning he will spend the rest of his life in prison for gunning down a white police officer nearly 30 years ago.
The decision by District Attorney Seth Williams, made with the support of the officer's widow and the city police commissioner, comes after nearly 30 years of legal battles over the racially charged case.

"There's never been any doubt in my mind that Mumia Abu-Jamal shot and killed Officer Faulkner. I believe that the appropriate sentence was handed down by a jury of his peers in 1982," said Williams, who is black. "While Abu-Jamal will no longer be facing the death penalty, he will remain behind bars for the rest of his life, and that is where he belongs."
Abu-Jamal was convicted of fatally shooting Philadelphia police Officer Daniel Faulkner on Dec. 9, 1981. He was sentenced to death after his trial the following year.

Abu Jamal belongs in a shallow grave.
That was his sentence and that is what he should have gotten.

When it's a black perp, it's always claimed to be "racially-charged" when convicted.
Likewise, if he were white, he would not have had 30 years of playing the "Race Card".
This is what political correctness has done to our society.

Rufus Seth Williams is a “black power” believer in his own right. He was playing the race card when he was in college.

Applying the same standards in the same proportion as this decision, everyone in the country who has had a guilty murder conviction and a death sentence, needs to be amended to a life term. Which is odd, since they are still guilty and were judged by the laws as written. We either change the laws or apply them as written.............
Oh, never mind! I forgot the new terms which have no legal basis whatsoever, but seem to be popular with our AS DOJ and all it's cancerous tentacles...."Social Justice and Environmental Justice".

People do forget however, that the real weakness in the case was the level of corruption in the Philly police department in general. It's that lack of confidence in the police and courts that poison the system.
There is no protection under the law, because the application of the law is motivated by social engineers and profiteers. The law itself as written is beautiful and pure. When you start using only certain parts for certain reasons, you end up with Frankenstein Law.

I agree totally that Mumia Abu Jamal should have been turned into rotting offal decades ago.
Just hope this doesn’t mean that his Hollywood enablers switch from keeping him away from the gas chamber to getting him sprung for a career in “community service”.
Red Ed Asner and Daffy Danny Glover were among the most hateful in this effort.
OTOH, dying of old age in stir is no picnic knowing that your worthless remains will wind up in a muddy hole in potters’ field.
Mumia will know someday what it’s like to be immortal and damned!
