In this particular case I don’t mind but I absolutely hate the idea of handcuffing everyone who is arrested no matter what the risk.

Yeah, I know it is “for the cops protection” and that makes anything they do OK.

I remember an article by Jeff Cooper in which he said that it was illegal in ancient Rome, to place a citizen in shackles for any reason.

I wouldn’t go quite that far but they should never be used on people just because they happen to be near a criminal scene.

From the article:

Sandusky's attorney, Joe Amendola, said he was "disappointed by the latest tactics" of the AG's office -- "by going to Jerry's house unannounced without so much as giving me a courtesy phone call as his attorney. I had to hear it from the media. We've always offered to turn him in if there were new charges."

My guess is that they didn't want to take a chance on the lawyer giving him the heads up so that Sandusky could skedaddle.

Good! However, the bail is still too low—$250,000.

I had a sick feeling that his wife knew all along and this seems to support my suspicion.

The accuser said that Sandusky forced the boy to perform oral sex and attempted on at least 16 occasions to anally penetrate him, sometimes successfully. “The victim testified that on at least one occasion he screamed for help, knowing that Sandusky’s wife was upstairs, but no one ever came to help him,” the grand jury report said.

I think it's absolutely heartbreaking...

(...that Sandusky didn't resist arrest).

something doesn’t ring true. His bond was set at $250,000.

He apparently couldn’t raise the $25,000 to the bonding agent.

A man of his means should be able to scrape up that cash.

His home? The one that has an elementary school next to it?
